Kings Playoff Standings Watch!!!

This is why it’s hard to like this guy. He could have easily say, our bad, we’ll do better next game but he has to go and say if you wanna switch place then be my guest
Oh stop. He didn’t say anything terrible at all.

Do you really want these guys to tell you what you wanna hear even if they don’t believe in it, versus telling you the truth as they see it?

Me, I’ll always lean hard into the latter even if the result is that I don’t like their answer or their reasoning. At least it’s the truth, from their POV.

And I gotta ask, how can it really be hard to at least respect someone, even if you don’t agree with or like the person, for being honest and true to themself no matter what? Isn’t that what this whole acceptance and inclusion ideology is all about? Accepting people for who they are even if it’s not our own cup of tea or a path we’d choose ourself?

I don’t agree with Kyrie Irving on a lot of things. But I fully support his right to express himself and say what he believes and more so I appreciate his candor. Especially when these guys are forced to sit in an interview room and answer rapid fire questions every night.

Kings Playoff Tracker

Big day for the Kings, who guaranteed at least the 7-seed and a home-court game after the regular season is finished (although either MIN or NOP could technically finish ahead of the Kings, they play each other, so they can't BOTH finish ahead of the Kings). Although we haven't technically clinched the #6 slot quite yet, there is almost no chance it doesn't happen.

Today's games (6):
DEN def. Bucks
PHX def. Sixers
SAC def. UTA
NOP def. LAC

Magic Number To Eliminate (TB=TieBreaker):
DEN (50-24) 14, 8 games remaining, TB 1-1, 1 to play (winner gets TB)
MEM (46-27) 11, 9 games remaining, TB goes to Kings if they win the Pacific Division, otherwise goes to Memphis
SAC (45-29) --, 8 games remaining
PHX (39-35) 3, 8 games remaining, TB goes to team with better division win%
GSW (39-36) 2, 7 games remaining, TB 1-2, 1 to play (winner gets TB)
LAC (39-36) 1, 7 games remaining, TB=Kings
--- Playoffs ---
MIN (37-37) 1, 8 games remaining, TB=T'Wolves
NOP (37-37) 1, 8 games remaining, TB=Pelicans
DALLAS MAVERICKS ELIMINATED
UTAH JAZZ ELIMINATED
LOL ANGELES LAKERS....ELIMINATED

Tomorrow's games (3):
MEM at Hawks, 3 PM
MIN at GSW, 5:30 PM

pardon my language….. but thank you for getting this F***ing thread back on track! If Minnesota loses tomorrow the entire board should do a collective toast!

The Timberwolves are scary and one of the teams that could dump the Kings first round party. Hope the Kings don't draw them at 6 or 7.

They feel considerably less dangerous if Big Sawfty is playing for them though. Either he or Gobert is going to wind up stuck guarding Harrison Barnes/Keegan Murray on the perimeter for 30 minutes a night which feels like a win for us.

Big swafty? - referring to Towns? See what happens tomorrow.....Edwards fries the Kings on offense. Warriors can do the Kings a favor and knock the Wolves off the Kings challenge radar although extremely unlikely the Kings go 0-8 finish

I’ll take my crow hot.
Hah! You are a good person to own it (better than me to be honest, since I am only crowing about the 10% of my takes where I’m right)! I honestly don’t know where they go from here, but in a wing driven league you have to be better than Bullock, Green, Holiday and Hardaway. I’m not sure what their path forward is, but I suppose you always have a shot to build something when you have Luka.

A lot of people want all the teams to win so that we can clinch at home. I just wonder why they don't put a big screen outside the arena and do a beam lighting if it happens tonight.

Cap has already stated the obvious, we effectively clinched weeks ago and the only reason we're having this conversation is because the drought has gone on so long.

I'm somewhat curious since the "new" standard is a top 6 seed (sorta), if you took out 7 and 8 seeds over the length of our drought which franchises might prove to be even more inept than we are. Realistically a 7 or 8 is usually just a happy to be there "drought breaker" or a team that's best days are long behind them scenario anyways. I know we were an 8 in 2000, but in 99 when we broke through we made it to 6.

You know, sometimes we think certain Kings announcers or commentators or personalities (Carmichael Dave) are homers. Probably we think this because of the clear passion for the Kings that many of these members of the media get swept up in.

Today I would like to submit a hypothesis for peer review that none of these earnest and wholesome folks are anywher near the homers that the Lakers announcers are. Trigger warning: I am about to go off. This takedown is going to be brutal.

We must make a distinction between media members loving a team (but still often voicing fair criticisms - CD comes to mind)... and the completely drug addled ref-fixing-assisting that are the Lakers announcers. There is no comparison.

The Lakers announcers are literally an accessory to a crime because of the shirking of their professional duty to provide commentary on a game that is connected to the reality of that game.

The Great Reckoning can't some soon enough. Have faith and have a blessed Sunday brothers and sisters! Kiss your nonna!

The Lakers announcers have long been awful. I used to live in So Cal 12-13 years ago, and I’d get all their games. I think it is still the same two guys. They are brutal. The PBP guy had this annoying style of just saying the player who had the ball “Smush, Bynum, Pau, Kobe, Kobe, KOBE, hits it.” And the color guy is the ultimate homer with the least objectivity I have ever seen from any broadcaster. They are unwatchable unless you are a lakers fan.

VINDICATED!! :)

Man- I took a lot of crap here saying that Luka and Kyrie wouldn’t work, that they were going to miss DFS (and the 36 minutes of elite wing D he provided), and that they would struggle to go .500 after the trade. That is a bad team, and I’m not even sure they will make the playin.
I'll concede that I thought they will do well. I thought they will figure out how to share minutes between two high usage guys.

Happy that things are not working out for them. If Kyrie leaves after the season, even better :) They don't make the post season, and go into next season much worse than this, and having lost a significant amount of draft capital :)

On twitter folks were complaining about Vuc getting bounced when the Bulls were up huge obviously that did absolutely nothing.
And yet apparently folks are still throwing money on the Lakers that some sports books have them with the 6th "best" odds to win it all despite falling back to the 9 seed.

Yup. They are not the same team with Towns, trust me.
