Kings plan to call up David Stockton from Reno

We only have one PG for tomorrow. I doubt if Andre will be there so I hope Stockton can take some of the minutes . Ah that's right. There is Nik. Our best pg may be Ray.

FWIW (probably not a whole lot, but hey) Stats in Reno-

16.6 PPG, 7.9 APG, 3.6 RPG, 2.4 SPG, 3.3 TOV, 27 MPG. 46% fg 36% 3pt 80% FT

Be interesting to see if we see any progress from his time at Gonzaga

Let us remember the absolute crapshow that is the Reno Bighorns system (brought to you by Circus Circus!)

Collison will be out likely for another week rehabing his hip and Andre not yet in town so that leaves only one true PG in RayMac. So why not take a look at him in the real world. 7-8 ast/gm plus hitting some 3's should open things up even more. Its all gonna be fun folks but be patient.

Yes, this is a minor moment of desperation for one game. I doubt very much Stockton is here for a try out but only to bail us out in a bad time. I hope Collison heals quickly or we are going to have one worn out 38 yr old who will probably be here for the game after tonight. :) Who knows about Nik? He's the guy I want to see get a real try out at pg.

I would like to see Stauskas in any role besides the one we have seen. He rarely touches the ball and when he does he just moves the ball to the next guy who almost always shoots it. If he can play backup PG he should get a chance.

He has many of the same skills as his father. Excellent court vision, quality jumpshot, fantastic BBIQ, knack for swiping the ball-he's got the skill. What he doesn't have is his father's incessant motor or rigid conditioning. Maybe if he were 6'2, 6'3 we'd be talking about a potential NBA player, but he's 5'11 and while not overly slow, he doesn't have the athletic ability to quite make up for his height.

I want to see if he's put on some muscle since going to Reno. If he locked himself in the gym after failing to make an NBA roster and focused on conditioning and lifting, then maybe, just maybe he has a shot at being a rotation player somewhere.

I'm not going to worry too much about this one - we need a PG on the roster right now, and a Reno call-up is the easiest way to fix things. How he's performed down there though should in no way give any insight as to how he might perform up here, especially given the "system" that is run in Reno.

Best case scenario, he is able to spell the PG rotation for 5-10 minutes a game until Collison is healthy. Worst case scenario, he provides another PG to practice against (although at 5' 11", I'm not sure how beneficial this would be.)

Ideally, Collison's injury would allow for Karl to see if Stauskas could play some PG, but I think this move is an OK one for purposes of depth.

Forget the gym. He needs to call uncle Karl in Arkansas and say "let me workout with you" ;)

I would guess that David Stockton is here only for insurance, we need point guard depth right now. Collison's injury is one that tends to linger, we aren't sure how many minutes that Andre Miller will be able to give us, and McCallum is still a question mark. I doubt Stockton plays at all unless it's a blowout game.

I would much rather take these remaining games and see what Stauskas can do with the ball in his hands more, I've always thought that has been part of the problem with him that has resulted in his lack of confidence. At Michigan he had the ball all the time, he was actually more comfortable creating his own shots than being a catch and shoot guy.

In my opinion it's a major problem with the new NBA, all of these one and done guys getting drafted with lots of potential, but not much experience. They go right to the bench and get ten minutes and four shots a game. This doesn't develop anybody, it only ruins their confidence. If you're a bad team with a young player who was a high draft pick then put him out there and see what you have, sink or swim. I know Stauskas had two years at Michigan, but still basically the same idea, I think we need to see if he has it or not because the instability that has gone on this year has told us nothing about him, good or bad.

Toss him into the fire tonight. I think people might be pleasantly surprised. I believe he was worth a 2nd round pick although he went undrafted. He has high BBIQ but he will be a liability defensively.
