Greetings, fellow Kings fans!
First, a HUGE thanks to LMM for filling in for me while I attended the Monday game.
It's raining up here in the forest. Perfect weather for a nice fire in the woodstove, coffee brewing in the kitchen and counting the hours and minutes until tip-off.
As always, everything that happens here at Kingsfans.com is because of the generosity and dedication of our board owner. This is a very special place for Kings fans and seeing the wide diversity of types of fans at the game Monday just reminded me of how lucky we are to have this place here to call our own. If you would like to help defray the costs of keeping Kingsfans.com up and running as the #1 Sacramento Kings Online Community, please consider becoming a Contributing Member. It's not necessary, of course, but it is greatly appreciated. In return, you get a larger avatar, you can create your own custom title AND you get first refusal at things like tickets to group nights.
Now, a brief word about the election. I think the people of Sacramento did the right thing in defeating Q & R, because the two measures just didn't reflect what either the Maloofs or the city/county had hoped to present to the voters. I HATE the way the media is trying to put blame on one person or another. It shouldn't be about finger pointing or blame at this point. It should be about realizing you need to have your ducks in a row before you put something like this out for a vote. Just my two cents, of course, but I firmly believe they at least now have something to build on - and that's better than they've had all along. (And just for the record, there have been numerous attempts by the Maloofs to deal with the city about an arena, and until this ballot measure, they had been pretty soundly rebuffed so don't believe those who are saying the Maloofs pulled the "7 attempts" number out of thin air. They didn't...)
There was a different feel to the team on Monday. Just like the players have to get used to each other, the fans are getting used to rooting for a different style of play. I personally believe our future lies right in the hands of Bibby, Artest and Martin - at least for right now. We do need to get the kind of performance from Kenny on a regular basis that I saw on Monday. He really played Garnett well and actually looked as though he wanted to be there and participate. He deserves kudos for that and I give them to him freely...
I know this is a bit of a mish-mash, but I thought putting comments here would be easier than responding to all the threads I missed.
Bottom line for me, I LOVE THIS TEAM. It's another year of Kings basketball and, based on what I saw Monday, it will definitely be exciting.
Just a reminder - this is the play-by-play thread, where one of the biggest Kings homers on the planet gives a running commentary on the game. Please excuse any mistakes. If you want to discuss the game, you can participate in the wildly-popular Game Discussion thread by our very own piksimist and founder of piksimism, piksi. In addition, you can check out the CHAT over at mIRC, server irc.bludgeon.org, channel #kingsfans.
After the game, be sure and stick around long enough for the grades to be posted. Our very own Bricklayer is tougher than any professor you'll ever have, but he backs up his grades. If you disagree, be prepared to do the same.
Coffee of choice for today is Gevalia French Vanilla with Kaulua flavoring (non-alcholic). Yum!
Until the game...
GO KINGS!!!!
