King's Overview

Bench
This is a King's overviw from a fantasy magazine that i've been getting the last couple years, i just went and bought it today, and I this is what it says. (The mag focuses mostly on player rankings but also has some infor about actual nba and not just fantsay basketball...There not too credible, last year they though we would go the finals, and lose in 7 games to the pacer. they also thought corliss would averga eover 9 pts a game.

"King's at a Glance"
.Sacramento's record was 25-17, when Kenny Thomas played 30 or more minutes. Conversley, they were 10-17 when SAR played itleast 30 minutes. Reef has a chance to impress a new coach, but Eric's choice at he four should be an easy one.

"Three Key Takeaways"
.New head coach E.M.'s system probably helps out ron and kevin the most, while mike isn't an ideal fit.
.we don't think the regime chnage does anything for sar. Kenny Thomas is still the starter at the 4.
.Ron is happy for now, but we dont know if it will work long-term under Muss, a similar coach to Carlisle.

"Team Overview"
If you've read this mag in the past, you know what we think of Ron: a guy this good at both ends of the court is worth the risk everytime. The good news is that hes running with two other potential all stars in mike and brad. The bad news is the decision to can head coach adelman. We like new coach muss just fine, but the system adelman had installed was not only effective, but so unique that it gave them a tactical advantage most nights. Maybe Muss will do just fine, but if we were the kings we wouldn't have been interested in finding out.

"The Rotation"
PG- Mike still falls into the underated category. He can get Sacto into their offense, and he's deadly from the outside. But he'll probably be hurt a little bit in Muss' system. Bibby isn't really an uptempo pg , and he's medicore defensively. We wouldn't be surprised to see him regress this season....Jason Hart should benefit from the new system, certanly not enough to think about challeneging Bibby for minutes, but he should be more uselful than he was last season.

SG- We like the cut of Kevin Martin's jib, even though were not entirely sure what a jib is. The pride of Western Carolina averaged 13.7 while shooting .511 percent from the field, in his 41 starts last year, and saw a lot of minutes in their first round playoff season. He's likely a starter, with bonzi unlikely to retun, and we like the fact that martin attacket the basket and got to the line this summer...john can run the point if they need him to, or he can pay either gurad spot. and unlike in philly he might even get the chance to shoot the ball sometimes. salmos should be on of the leagues top sixth men. Quincy give them a combo quard who can light it up. If douby can learn to play the point, he could have an impact off the bench as a rookie....Francisco just didnt look comfortable as a rookie...and looked even worse this summer.

SF- Ron was just fine after arriving in Sacto last year. If artest didn't like playing for Carlisle, we're not sure how hell cope under a similar coach in MUsselman. We don't excpect things to stay this dull with artest forever....Holy crap, is Corliss Williamson still around.

PF- Kenny took a hold of the starting job last year and didnt look back. With the new coaching staff coming in, pretty much every role is up for grabs. But considering how well thomas played last year, and how much more he gives the kings on the boards, we have to think hell take the starting job and the majority of the minutes at the four again... We're not sure whats going on with SAR, but he prety much looked awful last year ina system that normally makes everyone look much better than they actually are. So ya he'll have a chance to retake his starting job from thomas, but we dont see how its going to happen. AFter being banished to the bench last year, reef averaged a pretty miserable 9.7 and 4.0 in over 21.7 minutes.

C- Brad continues to post the best all around numbers of any center. The way shaq is fading, miller and yao will probably battle for th mantle of top fantasy center. Although playing in Muss' system, we're not sure he'll put up the same assist numbers he did in ricks system...it just wouldnt be an nba season without the ukraine train vitaly potapenko.

"SPOTLIGHT"

Brekout - Kevin MArtin will get evry chnace to step into the starting lineup. He came into the league as a shooter, but hes devloping into a scorer. the kings are going to make sure he attacks the basket and get to the line.

He's Done - SAR just didnt put up much of a fight last year after lsing his starting job. and with the new head coach putting an emphasis on defense, we dont see how thomas doesnt get the call again this year.

Other notes: it says brad will make the all-nba third team

The kings might end up regretting the firing of adelman, but head coahc em should be solid as the new guy. and theres still enough talent for sacto to be dangerous in the postseaosn.

they say well finish third in the pacific and 7th in the west, where well go on to face the spurs this time losing in only 5 games.

The last bit i dont agree with. I absolutely refuse to believe we will lose to the Spurs for the 2nd straight year. A lot of questions this year, thats for sure.

Um...why not?

Considering the only reason we were even able to remotely challenge the Spurs now plays in Texas himself? I'll be moderately glad if we even get the chance to get spanked by San Anton again this year, although of course it would be nice to avoid them.

Finally someone being positive about KT!

I hope he keeps the starting job. SAR was pretty dissapointing last season, especially in the rebound department.

In my eyes we have a great lineup, i look forward to see Thomas doin his thing, Ron always delivers, as does Bibby, im a huge fan of Miller, and i have a feeling Martin will get even better yet again.

Im also looking forward to seeing Douby, i dont know much about him but i watched some college footage and he drop 3s like its nothing, but hes gonna have to adapt to the NBA.

The bits about Reef were way off base. I don't recall him being "banished" to the bench. His going to the bench had as much to do with his rebounding as it did Kenny's complete inability to contribute off the bench.

Well that's quite an interesting stat...

Actually I'm not sure it had as much to do with either of those factors as it simply did with his injury. If he never gets injured, he mgiht have started right through the season -- Rick was rarely a coach who was going to make a midseason switch in the starting lineup involving a major player. But the injury changed things. We simply played better with Kenny starting than we did with Reef starting, and frankly after he got healthy again, Reef was more effective off the bench than he ever was as a starter for us. So Rick took advantage of the situation and went with what was better for the team without it being an obvious demotion.

^I'd add that by the time Shareef was healthy again, Ron had come on board and the team started winning and Rick adopted his "don't mess with a winning team" stance. So yeah, the team was playing better, how much of that was due to Kenny in the starting lineup is debatable.

LOL its funny how you think because Bonzi isn't here we are only goning have 4 players on the court and all the points Bonzi scored are just going to go away and nobody score. How many points did Kevin score in the game he started against San Antonio???

How many did he average for the series while averaging 33mpg? (Answer: 13.2)
What did he shoot for the series? (Answer: .407)
How many rebounds? (Answer: 5.0)
When is he going to average 23 and 12 for a series against the defending champs against an All League defender? (Answer: in a fanboy's wet dream)
While he's averaging 23 and 12 in said fanboy's wet dream, who is going to come off the bench to score 26? (Answer: Um...John Salmons??)
How does such ridiculous delusion get started? (Answer: it is a mystery.)

Finally someone being positive about KT!

If you will notice, people are only positive about KT in talk about fantasy leagues. Reef is a better player, but I am almost on the side of him being a better presence off the bench. KT can start because of the team dynamics, not because he is any better.

How many Rings does the godlike Bonzi well have on his hand while he is standing on the pedistal you have put him on. I you feel that losing Bonzi Wells is the end all of everything that is Kings basketball well snap out of it man. ppl come and go he went so **** him. The time is now for Kevin Martin. You are faced with the choice of backing this team going in and cheering them on or you are in for a long season of depression because we don't have the All mighty big man you want and we don't have Bonzi Wells. I you choose the second half of that well you could have the longest 7 months of your life coming up.

Now you're just being silly. You and Bricklayer have differing opinions. Learn to live with it.

Agreed. Optimism is great, but you cannot shove it down people's throat anymore than you can pessimism. Honestly, Brick puting someone on a pedestal - usually he is knocking someone off one.

(don't mean to critisize your grammer Entity, but you really need to hit "f" harder, the difference between "I" and "if" is a big one)

I agree with that. And I dont really think KT is better then Reef, I just think KT brings what the Kings need...Rebounding!

And yeah, Reef was way more dependable off the bench.

I just got sick of all those "Trade KT for a bag of chips" threads. People would bash on KT and talk about how desperately they wanted him traded, then in another thread those same people would complain about the Kings lack of rebounding. Might as well lobby to trade Artest and then complain about Kings lack of defense.

I love watching the ignorant play with statistics... its just like those good-old cartoons where a baby gets a shotgun and is sucking on the trigger blowing holes in the walls, and taking out chandeliers. Too funny.

could it POSSIBLY be teh fact that SAR got his big minute games before he was injured, at the begining of the season, when the whole of the king's team was in turmoil, and KT got got his big-minute games after that, and after his mad holiness (artest) showed up?

Statistics are abused more often than heroin.
