Kings notes: Stojakovic is king of Sacramento era, passes Richmond

Regardless of what others say, stats, or how important of a player Pedja is or not, I'm happy for Pedja. :)

whats with all these people on this forum bashing Peja. Ok GREAT he isn't your favorite player or he hasn't been playing up to expectations but give the guy some respect. He plays for the Kings and thats all that matters right now. Its funny because if our team wins with the help of Peja, everyone starts to join, "The Peja Bandwagon" but as soon as he has a bad year like this year, Its back to "trade Peja, He SUCKS!!!".

Honestly I'm not a big fan of Peja but when it comes to respect he does deserve it as does every player on this team.

Wow i like how posts get deleted on here with really no reason. In my post I replied to another poster whose post got deleted. i didnt say anything offensive yet my post got deleted. Thanx very fair regardless, Congrats Peja on the Milestone, I hope we get a couple hundred games in Kings uniform out of Peja.

Actually that's not necessarily true.

But regardless, the funny thing is that I think Amick, intentionally or not, created some ick here by simply mistitling his article. If it had said simply "Peja passes Mitch for most games played" think the article would have passed with little comment other than a few snarky "he should have been traded before nows". But by titling the article in such a way that it seems to elevate Peja over Mitch, over Webb, over Vlade etc., all of a sudden it introduces unnecessary controversy for such a minor deal.

Think you have to pick your friends and people you admire better -- said post was deleted for obvious reasons, and said poster as well. Not who you want to align yourself with, and your own post alone would have made little sense to anyone reading it after I deleted the childish rant to which you were responding.

Yes, the way the title was worded was just wrong. And, I think it was done intentionally. Not to stir things up as they have (I think most fans are not quite as intense as those of us who hang out here) but to make the story seem more exciting than it actually is.

As VF already said, it likely wasn't Amick.

anyone else hear on 1140 the caller that said he wanted to confirm that Peja was at UC Davis getting a physical. Lamb and Jason (Grant not on the show) could not confirm or deny it but did say they have gotten multiple phone calls into the station asking that same thing.

Well that would be ironic wouldn't it??

Grant is coming on the show next and he is with the team so we'll see if they address the question. Did he fly back? Is he here? Is he there? Where's peja?

For what? to be traded?

In an era where longevity with a single franchise is so rare, I think this is to be applauded. Nearly 10 years with a team for a player of Peja's calibur (let's not forget how much we loved him before this year - and how desirable he was as tradebait) IS a rare accomplishment. Thanks for 10 years Peja. And thanks for amazing me so many times with the sweetest jump shot I've ever seen (not now, but a few years ago).

For a moment I forgot we're playing Sixers tommorrow...

Pedja reunited with Webb via dump trade. Now, that would be ironic (and funny). But I guess it won't happen since Sixers are fresh out of spare parts on bad contracts.

?

8 years I assume? Unless you are counting the years in Europe after he got drafted?

And actually as I mentioned -- its not really Peja's doing. He was a rook, then signed the one contract with us. Even asked to be traded at one point. Really the orgnaization, and critically the timing. Peja happened to come along just as we emerged for a good long run at the top, and so we didn't want to make many moves. Now we are struggling, and now that's not guaranteed anymore. Either way, its really not Peja's call. Players at his level aren't the kind of guys that stay around forever as cornnerstones.

I had the exact same response...lol...

The title of the article "clearly" says no such thing; someone who didn't actively keep track of such stats probably wouldn't know what the article was talking about, based solely on the title.

There's no way of knowing that "Stojakovic is king of Sacramento era, passes Richmond" is a reference to games played as a King without reading it. And, like I said before, when you write a news article entitled, "Stojakovic is king of Sacramento era, passes Richmond," then that establishes precedent, fair or otherwise; that opens the door to comparison.

Well, you should be reading article, not just the title. In the article it is explained it is about games played, nothing else, and yet you couldn't wait to start hitting on Pedja with some comparison. Simpe, it just said he played more games as a King, and you can't take away that.

Nice try, but I did read the article; it doesn't change the fact that it is titled inappropriately. If had simply said "Stojakovic passes Richmond for most games as a King," then this thread would never have reached fifty-six posts.

I don't mean to be snide, but isn't this about on a par with the "best attendance" record in school?

Yes, he's been here the longest but it's one of those achievements that only mean something in the case of someone like Reggie Miller or maybe David Robinson, IMHO...

agreed

And that's exactly why it appeared on page seven, as part of a "notebook" piece, in which these types of things usually appear. It's not breaking news or hard hitting analysis, but it's not supposed to be. Just an observation, with a somewhat sensational headline.
