Kings Notes: Miller is ready to hit wide-open homeland

INDIANAPOLIS - Former Indiana Pacer Brad Miller rented a suite for 50 family members and friends at Conseco Fieldhouse on Saturday night.

Because Western Conference teams visit Eastern Conference arenas only once a season, this game is the first one Miller, a native of Kendalville, Ind., looks for when the schedule is announced.

Then, to find out there are days off between Saturday and the Kings' game Tuesday at Milwaukee brought a smile to his face as big as all the outdoors.

But speaking and talking about spending time outdoors following the Kings' sloppy yet satisfying 97-92 victory over the Pacers stretched Miller's smile even wider.

He owns a large parcel of land in his hometown and has been looking forward to getting there and going hunting.

"I've heard people have been seeing 20 and 30 deer in a group," Miller said to a well-wisher after the game. "I can't wait."

Stojakovic says he was lucky - Kings small forward Peja Stojakovic admitted he was scared when he went down with a knee injury with 2:15 left in the fourth quarter Saturday night.

Stojakovic said he was just trying to move through the lane when he collided with Indiana small forward James Jones and went down in a heap.

Jones was called for a foul, and Stojakovic stayed on the floor with four attentive teammates around him while he writhed in pain. There was a timeout and, after about 30 seconds, Stojakovic was helped up and limped back to the bench.

He came back to play following the timeout but was unable to finish the game. He came out with 2.6 seconds left in regulation and did not return.

"It started swelling as soon as it happened," said Stojakovic, who scored 12 points on 5-of-15 shooting. "I can't believe I got a scratch from (hitting) knee to knee. I guess I'm lucky. It's just a contusion."

Jackson hears it - Kings sixth man Bobby Jackson still was listening to harassment from his teammates before Saturday's game about not seeing a pass from guard Mike Bibby in Friday's road loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Jackson was standing just outside the free-throw lane wide open when Bibby whistled a pass right into him. The ball sailed out of bounds, making the play highlight fodder on TV.

Bibby said he thought Jackson was playing possum when he stood motionless. Said Jackson: "I wasn't paying that fool any mind. I was looking somewhere else."
