Getting ready for the second half... And the question has to be which Kings team - or lineup - will we see the most?

The over-the-hill gang? A mix of players playing out of position? A lineup that features our kids for at least part of the time...

And the starters are back out there to start the second half.

Kings ball.

Udrih to Miller, bounce pass to Moore, whose shot is partially blocked by Dampier and Mikki is knocked to the floor oob. Kings save the rebound anyway but cannot convert and Dampier gets the board.

46-38 Mavs

Mavericks get two.

48-38 Mavs

Grant and Jerry blathering about experimenting and substitutions so I'm not sure who scored last.

Salmons for two.

48-40 Mavs

10;33 left

Mavs turnover; Kings ball.

Foul called on Devean George away from the ball. Kings inbound. 2 team fouls on Mavs.

Miller to DG, pullup jumper is too strong. Udrih with ANOTHER rebound. He gets past three defenders but his reverse lay-up won't fall. Mavs rebound.

Mavs ball. Shot blocked by Miller. Kings ball.

Salmons WIDE OPEN ... airball. Mavs rebound. Terry on the run and he doesn't miss this lay-up.

50-40 Mavs

Salmons 4 of 12 shooting so far.

Udirh fouled by Dampier. 2PF. 3 team fouls on Mavs. Udrih at the line.

Makes first; misses second and Dirk snags the rebound.

50-41 Mavs

DE-FENSE!!

Dirk cannot get inside past Moore, so he kicks out and then gets the ball back. Dirk miss but Dampier tips it in. Mavs called for loose ball foul and Kings will inbound.

52-41 Mavs

8;55 left

Miller pass bounces off DG's fingers and right back to Miller. He dishes it inside again and it goes oob off Mavs. DG to the line.

Makes first; and second.

52-43 Mavs

Mavs now in the penalty for the rest of the quarter.

Mavs ball. Kidd able to get inside, kicks out to Devean George... for three.

55-43 Mavs

Bad pass by the Kings - Miller passed up a shot and tried to dump it inside - and Mavs get a trip to the stripe at the other end.

They make both.

57-43 Mavs

DG mid-range jumper on nice feed by Udrih is good for two more.

57-45 Mavs

Jason Terry shot in and back out; Miller rebound.

DG miss; Dampier rebound.

Dirk three is nowhere close; Salmons rebound.

7;09 left

Udrih assist to Moore.

57-47 Mavs

Terry miss; DG rebound.

Kings ball. DG miss; Mavs rebound.

Devean George inside out for two.

59-47 Mavs

Udrih miss; Kidd rebound. He's fouled in the back court by Donte. Mavs inbound.

5;56 left

Garcia back in...

Mavs miss; Udrih rebound and Garcia is on the run. He's got the easy lay-up after the outlet pass by Beno. Beno, BTW, is working on a triple-double. He's already got career high rebounds tonight and enough points. He needs three more assists, I think. (Perhaps four...)

59-49 Mavs

Mavs call time out and they go to commercial break.

13/9/6 for Beno with 5;56 left in the third. Nice stat line...

Mavs ball.

Udrih, Garcia, Salmons, Moore and Miller for the Kings.

Kings called for defensive violation. Dirk at the line for the freebie. Good.

60-49 Mavs

Mavs to inbound.

5;26 left

Garcia nearly gets the steal; Mavs recover. Mavs airball, George recovers but misses. Kings ball.

Salmons kick out to Garcia, who floats inside and gets two more.

Welcome back, CISCO!!!!

60-51 Mavs

Dirk gets Beno in the air and waits for the shot and two more.

62-51 Mavs

Garcia three goes in and pops back out. Mavs ball.

Dirk elbowing Miller - once, twice and whistle finally blows. Offensive foul on Dirk; Kings ball.

4;04 left

Dirk, of course, glowers at Salvatore.

Hrm. I looked away and the Mavs had two more points.

64-51 Mavs

Miller for two.

64-53 Mavs

Ah crap. Bounce pass by Mavs inside to George. No shot but he makes it anyway and gets the +1 call.

Bonus good.

67-53 Mavs

3;01 left

Kings turnover and Mavs have it back again. Oops. Kings have it back on a steal by Beno, I think...

Beno dish to Garcia, who drives hard inside and draws the tough foul.

Time out and Grant/Jerry talk with Gary Gerould.

Cisco will be at the line for two after the break...

Garcia makes both.

67-55 Mavs

70-55 Mavs

2;27 left

Garcia miss; Kidd rebound.

Barea miss and Bass called for "in the cylinder"...no bucket.

Kings ball.

1;59 left

70-55 Mavs

Beno bounce pass intended for Salmons, who stands there and doesn't seem too anxious to go for it. Defender does but it goes oob off Mavs... sigh...

Kings to inbound.

Rick Carlisle discussing the possession with the official. They settle the dispute and Kings do actually inbound.

Garcia inside, gets airborn, tries to pass to Hawes but it goes oob. Mavs ball. Beno with the steal, dish to Salmons who gets another lay-up.

70-57 Mavs

Bass for two.

72-57 Mavs

52 seconds left

Garcia from the corner is slightly off towards inside of the rim; Mavs rebound.

Dirk at the line. Makes first; and second.

74-57 Mavs

Jackson fallaway jumper doesn't go; he's hit but no call. mavs ball.

Terry over Bobby Jackson for two.

76-57 Mavs

End of the third quarter.

Grant says "The Dallas Mavericks are BEGINNING to run away from the Kings."

:p

Oh, goody, goody, goody. ANOTHER in-depth report from our courtside reporter. I do not know if I can contain my joy... She actually makes me yearn for the days of Rupe the Hoop...

Mavs ball ...

And two more points.

78-57 Mavs

Hey, look! It's the kids.

Brown, Jackson, Douby, Thompson and Hawes for the Kings...

Freaking Quincy Douby????

Kings turnover; Mavs with two more and Kings call time out. Either that, or Comcast went for a pity timeout...right after Grant proudly annouces that Reggie Theus has decided to "go with the youth to start the fourth quarter."

I think the score is 80-57 Mavs. It could be 82-57 Mavs ...

My poor little mind was distracted trying to figure out under what circumstances you would consider Bobby Jackson part of the "youth" of the Kings.

:p

Salmons went to the locker room with a strained groin at the end of the third quarter. Naismith help me, but I wouldn't mind the Kings playing without John Salmons for a while... I know, I'm evil and bad and will most likely pay for that comment.

Hawes for two.

80-59 Mavs

Mavs miss; Hawes rebound. He tries for the three, doesn't get it but Bobby snags the board and then has it taken away. Mavs miss; Hawes rebound.

Outlet pass to Thompson inside, he kicks out to Jackson who misses from the corner.

Kings are taking way too many quick shots, IMHO, and as I'm typing that Jerry makes a similar comment. Mavs ball.

9;53 left

Our courtside reporter announces that it's not a "groin issue" with Salmons; it's actually a left thigh strain. He won't be back tonight.

Bass to the line for the Mavs.

Makes first; Dirk out for the Mavs. Makes second.

82-59 Mavs

Douby for two.

82-61 Mavs

Terry for two.

84-61 Mavs

Jason Thompson to the line on foul by Bass.

9;09 left

Makes first, but doesn't get much applause as the Arco crowd has already been reduced to coma-like trances. Jason misses second but gets his rebound and gets it to Brown for two.

84-64 Mavs

Mavs for two.

86-64 Mavs

Kings may beat a record going back many years with 6 consecutive home losses.

8;21 left

DG back in to the game, replacing Jackson.

Jason Terry for two more.

88-64 Mavs

Another Kings miss and Mavs convert at the other end for another freaking three...which is just another reason I totally hate the Mavericks.

91-64 Mavs

Browns for two.

91-66 Mavs

Mavs miss; Kings rebound.

Oh good lord. Douby has the ball at the baseline and it just seems to ooze off his fingers and oob. Mavs ball.

Time out and commercial...

From my inbox:

"I was at an intersection recently, waiting for a light to change when I was rearended by the car behind me. As I sat there, the car door opened and the driver got out. As he walked towards my car, I realized he was incredibly short and actually looked a lot like the star of Little People, Big World.

"You know how sometimes you just find things humorous for no reason? Well, that's how I felt ... and I started to giggle for no good reason.

"What are you laughing at?" said the man. "I AM NOT HAPPY!"

"Oh," I replied between giggles. "Then which dwarf are you?"

---------------------------------

and before any of you complain about political correctness, that was sent to me by someone who is a little person.

...

In other news, the game continues...but the score hasn't changed.

5;46 left.

Dish inside, intended for Garcia but Jason snags it, spins and gets the half-hook to fall.

91-68 Mavs

Thompson called for non-shooting foul on the other end. Mavs will inbound.

They get some more points...

93-68 Mavs

Grant makes an incredible statement to Jerry...

"Jerry, the fans have to be getting concerned as they're seeing a team blah, blah, blah..."

I've discovered I can actually shut out Grant's voice in favor of the Arco announcer. It's easy to hear him as there is very little crowd noise to interfere.

Haews for two and the +1. Bonus good.

93-71 Mavs

95-71 Mavs

Donte Greene inside, Cisco already setting up to go for the rebound and he almost blocks Donte's progress. Donte gets the hoop and the +1. Bonus is good.

95-74 Mavs

Grant and Jerry continue to talk as though we just need to make a few adjustments to be able to compete with the top teams in the west. Things like "The team has to realize they cannot wait for Kevin Martin to return..." "They're going to need to take these few days off and refocus. Theus is going to have to retool..."

3;12 left

Heheheheh. Mavs guy tries to get fancy, spins inside, trips on his own feet and falls to the ground. He looks to the official to bail him out and the ref just shrugs...

Meanwhile at the other end, Greene misses and somebody cleans it up for two more Kings points.

95-76 Mavs

2;24 left

time out and commercial...

Oh good. My night is complete as they show Mark Cuban laughing with Dirk Nowitzki...

Kings turnover; Mavs ball.

1;54 left

Sean Williams to the line for the Mavericks.

Looks like a mortician convention on the Kings bench... The players are at one end talking amongst themselves as Theus is surrounded by three assts in dark suits.

97-78 Mavs after Bobby Brown connects for two more.

Spencer Hawes with another block. He is showing MORE heart with only 1;08 left in the game than our starting center did all game. Kings chase it down but lose it on a loose ball foul charged to Thompson. 5PF.

Singleton ?? to the line.

Jerry Reynolds says Reggie Theus has a few days to think things over, to possibly change starting lineups and rotations... Gee, Jerry. Ya think????

99-78 Mavs

Douby misses a three. Mavs turnover, Jason crashes into the Kings bench diving for a loose ball. He looks okay. Mavs to inbound.

Blast it. Two more points for the Mavs.

101-78 Mavs

Kings turnover; Mavs ball. They walk off the clock and the game is over.

Reggie Theus strides off the court, not even acknowledging Rick Carlisle or anyone else.

And now? I'm going back to the Planet of the Apes.

Good night, all....

:)
