BEAT LA !!!

This is it folks. Another big game behind enemy lines. If You are not excited - noone can help You.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
On March 22nd 2003 Kings won in Portland 113 - 104 in a defensive battle to improve to 49 - 21 for the season. Kings blew the game open in the 3rd quarter by winning it 42-22. Webber lead the team with 25/15/6. Pedja scored 30 to go with 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Bibby had 13/3/8/4 st. Dc had 14/5/2/2st.

Peja Stojakovic fueled another 40-point quarter and the Sacramento Kings shot down another Pacific Division foe. Stojakovic scored 14 of his 30 points in a blistering third quarter as the Kings raced to a 113-104 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers that clinched their fifth straight playoff berth. In Thursday night's home showdown with the rival Los Angeles Lakers, the Kings scored 41 points on 13-of-19 shooting in the fourth quarter as they surged to a big win. In the third quarter against Portland, Sacramento was even better. It made 18-of-22 shots from the field and scored 42 points, turning a four-point halftime deficit into a 91-75 lead.

"I definitely see us coming together," Webber said. "I see it really happening as far as us getting our swagger back. So it felt good to win a tough game against a great team here at home. "When I say the swagger, I mean we're talking to each other, getting each other pumped up, we're playing D and started feeling really good."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kings @ 34-33 are back in the 7th after stopping the 2 games losing streak at 2, winning the 14th straight game at ARCO. It was a great timing too because the biggest game of the season is coming up as the LA Kobes are waiting on us at home. The win there would give us heuge tiebreaker that might be big down the strech because it sure looks like things will be tight till the end.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
PO race is still very close. 4 teams will continue to fight for 2 spots with Jazz looking from the distance and the Hornets being right there after stopping the 8 games losing streak. Of course - the other 2 team are us and them. Every game is important but it is also important to realize that a loss is not the end of the world. the teams that continue to fight and bounce back - will make it and we will be one of them.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Last weeks game at ARCO was the easiest game of the season and there was no doubt who would win. This game is very different in many ways. They will have their crowd which means a very high concentration of silicone in the area. They will have the refs which is nothing new since they always do. They are under pressure and will come out accordingly. They have something to prove. We should use all of that. We can't afford to come out flat or to relax. If we play well - we will win simply because we are more talented team by far.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As usual, we will have some trolls showing up tomorrow. Ignoring is the way to go. they will be taken care of eventually;). After the last game - many Lakers fans (yes - they have fans and no - I have no idea - why) were put in a state of depression near suicidal despite the fact that it was just another game and the whole rivalry thing is just made up by us to cover the "inferiority" complex. If we win tomorrow - and we have a decent shot - it will be very interesting to see what excuses they will make up this time.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
A spectacular award night. TDM went in a close race to Wilcox who had 16 pts (7-12, 2-2) 19 rb, 1 assist and 2 st. Swift was close and has showen potential to win this award down the road.
LW - VC award goes to Luke Ridnour who shot 2-10 from the field and got schooled by Bibby many times. he also found Brad mille in transition again;)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sonics were hard to beat mainly because of the Lakers being on players mind. We let them hang around too long. Every scrub had his moment and there was a scary moment when Jason Hard ended up playing. Our hard earned lead was erazed imediately but at the end a better team that wanted it more and needed it more won that game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There is no reason to emphesize how big the game is tonight. Even an average lakers fan realizes that. (well, maybe not every one). We have more talent that will cancel out the referees. Everything else - we have to bring and earn on the court. I am sure that guys are aware of what is at stake. We can not relax or "skip" a quarter. We just need to get it done. We have won 10 out of last 15 games against lakers
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike - a proven and certified laker killer so mike needs to do what he does the best. Kill them and finish it with a "crab" dance.
Ron - pills were especially great tonight. Kobe is waiting and will be extra motivated. Foul trouble - possible.
Brad - stop turning it over and find Smush in transition
Bonzi - it has got to get better and soon
SAR - how about a big game of the bench for a change
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
KT - do it again man and say hi to Luke
Kevin - You need to bounce back kid
Cisco - nice to see him back
------------------------------------------------------------------------
And yet again - we have seen why the rest should continue with CD-DNP
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
RA - there is yet another chance to outcoach the Zen-master
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Lakers - people say that when one doesn't have anything nice to say about someone - one should rather say nothing. Screw that. Lakers suck and they always will. it is their definition. Kobe will still get his. we don't have anyone who is capable of guarding Odom. They got nothing inside. TDM award favorite is George who we learnd to hate with passion. LW-VC award favorite this time is not Walton Junior. This tome I will go with Kwarme " the stone hand" Brown. Go get them Kings !
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
BEAT LA !!!

I thought you thought he was referring to the Silicon Valley...

We generally don't get hung up on spelling around here. We have too many members for whom English is a second, third or even fourth language to worry about minutiae like that.

;)

EDIT: Oops. Never mind. I re-read your posts and saw that my poor tired old eyes had transposed the words in my own feeble little brain. I think it's time for me to get some sleep...

Lakers are preparing for this matchup....

Notes From Practice, 3.21

Having flown home Tuesday afternoon from Boston, Lakers practice was limited today to film study. Specifically, defensive film study. Considering they surrendered 114 points to Sacramento in their last meeting, that's probably not a bad idea.

"Today was just about watching the game film of the last time we played Sacramento," said Smush Parker. They focused on "play recognition. Just got to recognize when certain guys are in certain positions on the court, this is what they're gonna do. And we just have to recognize that."

Said Lamar Odom, "We went over every defensive possession that we had in the last game we played against Sacramento, from the first score to the last one." Considering how awful that performance was, I wonder if the team would have rather been running drills despite obvious road trip fatigue. So what did they learn? "How we're going to go with the pick and rolls, the down screens, their high post offense with Bibby cutting and setting picks and things like that."

Obviously, defense has been an issue all year. Odom noted that last year they were really bad last year defensively, "and we're better... but we're still bad."

Both Parker and Odom agreed that Wednesday night's game is big, but given their situation, they all are. It's a healthy attitude. To say the Lakers have underperformed in games that seemed on their face to be less significant would be an understatement. It's all part of the inconsistency Odom once again acknowledged they've been battling all season. To add extra significance to one game over another isn't something they should be doing right now.

WHAT PHIL SAID:

Jackson decided, given that they had flown back cross country today to leave the more active parts of game preparation for tomorrow. "We had to get focused on our last meeting with Sacramento, and look at some of the things we did," Jackson said. "We had an 83 point defensive game against Sacramento in late February, and this was a 114 point game. So that's a thirty point difference, it was a real disappointing defensive effort by our team."

Jackson mentioned how Artest was hot throughout and that Bibby got fired up late, but noted "everybody contributed. We just didn't have an identification as a defensive team."

I asked Jackson about Kwame, specifically regarding his rebounding and his inconsistency on the glass- two nine board games sandwiching games with four and five:

"Kwame gets involved in ball games usually early and he stays involved. I think some of that has to with fouls, some of it has to do with teams that have an outside perimeter player he may have to guard against, screen and rolls that may be taking him out on the floor that contribute to less rebounds and to less of an impact on the game. He's really playing okay, and we're happy that we have him on this ballclub at this time when Chris (Mihm) is down, that we have a guy that we know can go forty minutes, that physically can do the job in both defense and rebounding for us. That helps us out a lot. His offense has I think improved, and yet I'd like to more involved in the offensive frame of mind."

Is Kwame a natural rebounder? A guy who can see and anticipate where a ball will head off the glass, and position himself appropriately?

"I think Kwame can go get rebounds. The one thing I've kept after him is the second attempts. Usually rebounds are second and third efforts. Sometimes you just keep going back and be relentless on the boards. Sometimes he gives one good effort and doesn't come back and give that second good effort. That takes balance, and also that thirst or that hunger to get the ball."

This game is huge... If the Kings win this they will take a 2 game lead, because they will not only be a game up on the Lakers, but will hold the tie-breaker, meaning that they will have to finish with a better record in order to get the higher seed. Let's go KINGS!

Brad should have a field day with Brown and the Kings need to press the advantage inside. trading outside shots is just not a smart game plan against the Lakers, but their line up is SOFT. I have to teach agian tonight so I'll be watching the tpae of game when I get home. The real challenge is can I resist the temtation to check the score BEFORE watching the tape?

on the other hand You can find out how we did which would take the suspense but add comfort.

If we win - You will enjoy it and won't really care that You know the score

If we lose - do you really want to spend 2.5 hrs of Your life watching the Kings losing to Lakers ?

If we tie - Once again, something went horribly wrong.

Resist the temptation, it'll be worth it when we win. I tape some games and it's a lot better to watch when you don't know what happened.
