I was in the arena, two rows up from a group of Warriors fans. I watched them leave the game disheartened with 5 minutes left to go, after the Kings went up by 11. My wife heckled them: "Aww, what's the matter?" - If only they knew what we know: that the lead was nowhere near secure.

Really, I felt comfortable only when the team's lead hit 20, and that was for just a moment. I remembered who we were playing against, who we were defensively, and viola! 2+2 suddenly equaled 4. You know what though? Considering the recent bad stretch, a Kings win is something to be celebrated regardless.

I'm just happy I didn't have to deal with what appeared to be the 3000+ W's fans in attendance acting a fool after the game.

Donte played very well, Spencer Hawes had a good game, Beno had a great game, and Sean May had an amazing game. Major props. I give the man credit for being ready when his number was called.

I mean to say something here that may or may not hold water, and it may even seem like a "Duh," kind of statement:

It's easy to be a spectator, to summarize things from your T.V. and chant the party line. Things like "JT and Hawes are soft, Noc sucks, the team lacks chemistry," are all repeated ad nauseum as though they are inherent truths. They can hold a grain of truth, of course, but when I look down on an NBA floor in real life and take into account the jostling, the tactical maneuvering, and the relative lack of space alloted for the movement of 10 hulking genetic freaks, I wonder how they are expected to play anything resembling a structured competition at all.

I know they get paid ridiculously for it, and I would kill to be in their shoes, but the game looks like Truxel and I-80 @ 4:15p.m. out there. It sometimes looks very difficult to be a player on the NBA level.

Awards:

TDM - Stephen Curry is gonna be pretty good someday. ;)

LW-VC - Anthony Tolliver. You probably never heard of him for a reason.

JHA - Jason Thompson. Might as well give him a plaque with "JHA Incumbent" engraved on it.

SAR - Metuselah - Vlad Rad. I don't get it.

RA&1 - Tyreke Evans. He played well. He also turned it over a couple of times trying to have fun when we were up big instead of driving the dagger in the W's hearts.

WTF moment of the game - Sean May's play. All of it.

Now that we've had our slump buster, next up is the Utah Jazz. This season's rendition is a solid bunch of hard nosed sharp shooters. Deron Williams will, and Carlos Boozer may, sit this one out injured. Seems as though we have a glimmer of a hope.

Predictions:

Kings 95 Jazz 93

Pts: Evans 24 / Okur 20
Rbds: Thompson 9 / Millsap 11
Asst: Evans 7 / Brewer 5
Blks: Hawes 2 / Kirilenko 4

Probable Starting Lineups:

Evans / Price: Price should be invisible to Evans
Martin / Brewer: Does Brewer play for the Grizzlies yet?
Greene / AK47: Kirilenko isn't what he once was. He's still better than Greene right now.
Thompson / Millsap: Millsap is a beast. Thompson will have to wake up.
Hawes / Okur: No post play allowed.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Jazz look thin. They're on the ropes. This is an opportune time to put together a mini streak. Here's to a win, no matter how ugly!

GO KINGS!!!

They don't have Williams or Boozer, but it is the Kings, and we couldn't beat the Wizards 2 weeks ago. That being said, even with the injuries, Jerry Sloan isn't calling in sick. You know, I don't care if we win or lose, I would really like to see some quality basketball from Kevin, Jason, and Omri all at once without anybody regressing. (If that happens we win easily). But as far as Kevin is concerned (and I have been his apologist for a long time), he really needs to wake up. Take a few more shots. Drive the lane. Focus on team defense and actually capitalizing on the numerous plays that are run for you.

Our success depends on
a) Hawes playing like he did last game
b) JT and Omri getting out of their slumps
c) Tyreke either hitting his jumpshots or passing more
d) Kevin Martin not playing

Kevin stayed after practice this week (I heard) and put some work in with Coachie. I think it will make a difference. So, to those of you that say "Kevin's not playing" is a key to victory, I say, Kevin will go off for 20+ points and will be the key to victory. Book it!

I gotta work until 10 p.m. so I'm hoping CSN will replay the game, so I can see most of it. I think the Kings have a chance in this one. Utah is not playing like you'd think they would play with their talent level. Missing Williams will hurt them. I think the Kings are ready to take advantage of other teams' misfortunes. Book that too!

Now, it seems I was called a hopeless romantic earlier this week in one of the threads. Can't remember ever being called that before, but I like it. :D So, take everything I just said with a grain of salt. :p

Martin averages over 24 ppg against the Jazz on a very low amount of shots. like 11. The reason is the Jazz foul a lot. He will get to the line. As evidenced by Tyreke getting to the line 19 times in the November matchup. So you wouldn't be too off base with stating that this will be Kevins breakout performance. The Jazz do not block shots, so Reke should have a field day too.

Just to spite a seeming majority of the posters on here, I'm predicting Kevin goes off for 40 and Spencer suddenly channels the spirits of every great big man and ends up with 30/20/10(assists), the first triple double of his career. To further add to this, I predict that Nocioni will not miss a shot, 'Reke will indeed "play like a PG", JT will not pick up a foul, and Westphal will "have a rotation".
