Greetings fellow Kings fans and ...

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Here it is, the first game of the season for our 2007/2008 Sacramento Kings. They've traveled to New Orleans, where I sincerely hope they'll end up with the treat after tonight's game.

Oddly enough, according to my onscreen guide for DishNetwork, the game isn't being broadcast anywhere. The morning paper says "News10," but there is no listing for the game on either News10, Comcast Sports Network or anywhere else. I certainly hope they get this resolved. They do not want to deal with an angry VF21 if I do not get the game for ANY reason.

If you're new to the PBP thread, this is my way of sharing the action of the game with those who may not be able to see it or listen to it via Audio League Pass. Speaking of League Pass, from what I understand it's free for the first week of the season, so those of you who are out of town might just be able to see the Kings.

Everything here at Kingsfans.com is possible because of the dedication and generosity of our board owner, Jeremy. If you would like to help defray the costs of keeping KF up and running as the #1 Sacramento Kings Online Community, please consider becoming a Contributing Member. You're under no obligation, of course, but CMs do get larger avatars and first chance at things like the annual Kings home opening KF game attendance party.

Game time is 5 p.m. according to this morning's Bee and the League Pass schedule.

Now, let's get ready for some Kings basketball!!!

Yikes! how could the game not be televised?? Keep us updated VF... I can't imagine not being able to watch the opening game of the season!

With League Pass free preview this week you should be able to get at least Hornets broadcast. If it is blacked out in Sac area, I think that broadband league pass is free as well this week. You should be able to watch it online (I don't know about VF21 if she is still on dialup :( ).

The game is on News10, just not on the onscreen guide from DishNetwork.

I'll still do the PBP...

IT'S TIME FOR KINGS BASKETBALL!!!!!!!

Just as with every other year, I have goosebumps and I feel like a little kid on Christmas morning. It's hard to describe to anyone who doesn't feel as passionate (and possibly corny) as I do about this team, but this is a new beginning ... again. We COULD win 82 games. At this moment, anything and everything is possible. I know that sooner rather than later some of those hopes will be dashed, but one thing I think won't disappear is my excitement over this team - with this coach.

What I've already seen has impressed me and restored my faith in the heart and spirit of the TEAM.

Yes, I am Kings homer. Hear me roar...

GO KINGS!!!!

Very nice pre-game interview by Grant with Reggie Theus, who happens to hold the record for most points scored on an opening night with the Kings. It happened 21 years ago tonight and Reggie scored 32 points. According to Coach Theus, he told Kevin a little while ago that it's time for that record to be broken. Coach also had quite a bit to say about how cooperative the whole team has been in buying into what he wants to do. He mentioned them needing to get the chips off their shoulders that were there from last year. He mentioned again needing to feel like a team, needing to rebound and play defense and needing to bring fun back to the Kings.

We may not make it to the playoffs or even have a winning season, but I firmly believe in what Reggie says. We're going to have fun!!!

Some confusion down in Fresno. Local Radio 1340 was supposed to have the game but it's not on... any idea where I can atleast get an audio feed?

Kings lineup: Greene, Martin, Salmons, Thomas and Miller
Hornets: Paul, Peterson, Stojakovic, West and Chandler

Byron Scott coaching for the Hornets; Reggie Theus in his premiere as head coach for the Sacramento Kings.

Audio league pass at nba.com is supposed to be free this year.

Okay, getting ready for the tipoff... Remember, this is the PBP. Discussion is discouraged while it's welcome in the ... wait for it... game discussion thread.

:p

GO KINGS!!!!!

Tip oob by Hornets; Kings ball.

Greene quickly working on Peja, who earns the distinction of being called for the first foul of the game. Non-shooting; still Kings ball. Kings inbound, Salmons from the elbow for two of Peja.

5-2 NOH

Kings ball, knocked oob by NOH. Still Kings ball.

Salmons entry pass to Miller, who barely touches it, shoots and gets the bucket.

5-4 NOH

Peja tries to go inside past Salmons, can't do it but Chandler able to mop it up for two.

7-4 NOH

For some reason, they have the score at 6-4...

NO with two more. I guess I'll go with their score, since they're apparently cancelling West's FT...

8-4 NOH

Kings miss. NOH miss; KT board.

Salmons miss; West rebound.

NOH pass intercepted by Salmons, who drives inside, gets the hoop and the +1.

Bonus good.

Chandler over Miller with a jump hook for two.

10-7 NOH

7;16 left

WOW!!! Nice move by Salmons, who does about a 360 spin and gets the hoop.

10-9 NOH

Peja totally unable to do anything to stop Salmons.

West for two.

12-9 NOH

Peja inside for two.

18-13 NOH

Douby for long two at the other end.

18-15 NOH

Oh, no...

Quincy Douby writhing on the court, holding his head. Grant says he was crunched ... Nobody called out the screen set by Chandler, and Douby ran right into it. I do NOT like the idea of open court screens and wish they would outlaw them. A few too many guys have been hurt over things like that.

Douby on the sidelines, holding his head. Kings call time out. Douby smiles and gets back on the court.

20-17 NOH

Not sure how the score got to be 20-17 but I'm not arguing since each discrepancy is in the Kings favor.

:p

West for two.

22-17 NOH

Martin inside for two more.

22-19 NOH

Moore in for KT.

Paul for three as shot clock winds down.

End of the first quarter.

SAR in for the Kings, along with Douby, Garcia, Moore and Martin.

NOH to the line. First is a miss, second is good.

30-24 NOH

Armstrong was the one at the line.

Douby over to Martin, who loses ball oob with Bobby J all over him. NOH ball.

Bobby Jackson for two. Defensive three-second called?? Kings ball.

32-24 NOH

11;16 left

Moore jumper goes awry, SAR with the loose ball foul. NOH ball.

Butler for two.

34-24 NOH

MARTIN FOR THREE!!!

Ten points for Kevin so far.

Bobby Jackson tries to drive inside, puts it up and Martin blocks it. Excellent Kings defense and NOH called for 24-second violation.

Salmons in for Martin.

10;12 left

Salmons running the point. Over to Douby, back to Salmons, inside to SAR and ball ends up oob. Not sure whose fault...

NOH ball. Grant and Jerry say spacing was horrible on last possession.

Good defense by the Kings give the Kings the ball, but Bobby J steals it back.

Armstrong airball ends up being caught by Douby. Ball inside to SAR, who is fouled. Kings inbound.

Douby to Gracia, who leaves his feet and tries to pass to Moore. Luckily Garcia is fouled in the air because that play had nothing going for it. Kings inbound.

Douby three is short; Armstrong rebound.

Bobby J miss, Moore called for foul under the basket.

36-27 NOH

Time out and commercial.

HT providing an in-depth report of the Kings out meeting and greeting kids at some aquarium in NO. Interesting glimpse of Artest and Peja shaking hands and smiling.

Garcia, Moore, Salmons, SAR and Douby on the court for the Kings.

Score correction. It WAS 34-27 NOH. It is NOW 36-27 NOH after another bucket.

Salmons drives inside, puts up a nice shot but it's knocked into next week by Armstrong.

Pargo for two at the other end.

38-27 NOH

Moore miss; NOH board.

7;54 left

NOH ball, goes oob.

Kings ball. Greene back in. Over to Cisco, who takes a step to his left and gets the jumper to go.

38-29 NOH

NOH ball; whistle. Not sure on whom. Possibly SAR. Still NOH ball.

Eli called for traveling. Kings ball. Watkins in for Moore.

7;05 left

Kings miss; but snag the rebound for a second chance. SAR inside, off-balance hook doesn't go but Salmons chases down the ball and gets the third chance bucket.

38-31 NOH

Pargo to the line on foul by Salmons, I think.

Peja in for NOH; Miller back in for the Kings, as Reggie pulled Watkins for something he did wrong. Now SAR goes back out and Watkins goes back in after a brief discussion with Watkins. Douby will not return to the game - possible concussion.

40-33 NOH

Steal by Garcia and TWO MORE points for the Kings.

40-35 NOH

Byron Scott calls time out.

5;35 left

Whatever Watkins did on the court, Reggie pulled him for one possession - just long enough to let him know it wasn't going to be tolerated - and then put him back in. And Watkins immediately stepped it up. I like that ... a lot.

Miller rubbing his lower back, could be having back spasms...according to Grant. Pete Youngman talks to him a moment and Brad goes back onto the court.

NOH ball. West called for walking. Martin back in - Greene out. Garcia, Martin, Salmons, Watkins and Miller on the court. Brad still reaching at his back.

Martin miss; Watkins rebound knocked away. NOH finds it.

NOH ball.

4;59 left

Chandler called for offensive foul as he used off-arm to get around Watkins. Kings ball.

WHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Nice ball movement, Miller seeing cutting Martin and bullets the ball to him. Kevin with the dunk.

40-37 NOH

NOH miss; Watkins rebound. Things getting ugly. West shoved Garcia oob late.

Officials warning the Hornets about guys getting hurt and getting mad...

Watkins called for loose ball foul after Kings miss. Miller takes the wrap off his back and tosses it to the bench. It might have been the wrap that was bugging him and not his back itself.

West to the line.
