Filling in for Piksi tonight.......

Seeing how this may be my only game thread I get to do, Lets do one on a Lakers loss, and my personal favorite game ever. On 5/28/2002, game 5 of the Western Conference series, The Kings beat the Lakers 92-91. Bibby hit the game winner with 8.2 seconds left to give the Kings a very emotional win as well as the highest point in the playoffs the Kings have ever experienced in the Sacramento era, after being down by 3 with less than a minute to go. Webb had 29/13/3. Bibby had 24/4/2/3st. Vlade had 13/7/2/1bl.

"That was specially designed to get the ball into Mike's hands because he is such a great decision-maker and he very rarely makes a bad decision out of bounds," Kings coach Rick Adelman said. "We just wanted him to hit Webb and come off and see what's there. We were going to have shooters out on the floor and let him make the decision."

However, we all know how the series ended:( .However, Kingsfans were never more hyped at any other time in history.

Now back to today.........

Well another tough overtime loss for the year, dropping us to 0-5 for the season in overtime games. If the Kings go to overtime, you might as well turn off the TV because in 5 short minutes we are going to lose. The loss puts us on a 2 game losing after a 5 game win streak. We are however still only 2 games out of the doomed 8th playoff spot who will almost certainly take on either Phoenix or Dallas in the merry-go-round of the 1st round. Currently, the Clips are sitting at eighth with the Hornets one game behind, and the Kings one game behind the Hornets.

Ron Artest had a tremendous game again. He has been averaging over 20ppg 8 out of the past 9. Really did what he wanted at will versus Houston, and tonight shouldn't be any different.

Mike has slowly been fading. Last night only put up 10 shots as Artest and Martin had good games. Really didn't hurt or helped us. Sad to see such an iconic Kings player go through a slump. But hey, it isn't how you start, it's how you finish the year.

Award Time
TDM- Luther Head. Solid stats across the board and a huge basket toward the end of the game sealed it for him

LW-VC-Bonzi Wells. 6points to go with 4 fouls in 27min of action. 36 mil sounds really good right now, eh Bonzi:rolleyes: ?

JHA-John Salmons. Decent game, but 25% shooting with the monster turnover at the end to ice the game. I mean, I could probably shoot at least 20% in the NBA!!

Hornets are next and are playing well right now. They are just around .500 at home and are one of those teams that "are not very good right now but seem to easily beat the Kings." but pretty much anyone can beat the kings these days. Paul will beat his averages across the board. Chandler will own everyone we put on him in the paint. TDM will go to Jackson. LW-VC will either be West or Mason, whoever Artest guards more. JHA will go to whoever gets the most minutes on Chandler.....Im gonna say Big Nasty.

Ron-do it again!
Mike-good luck with Paul
Kevin-I smell over 30pts tonight!
Rest-Mateen

Very Winnable game.........Go Kings!!!!!!!

1: Mason will be good, but he's not TDM eligable, I think, because he alwasy seems to explode against us...The guys to quick for Artest, and everyone else on the team defends like they're blind.

2: I smell a repeat of Chandler's 23 rebound performance he had the other night ... Yay

If Paul is contained, or contains himself, we should win, though.

You picked a good game IMO considering this may be Bibby's last game as a King, or one of them... It's kinda sad.

Anyway, a loss would help our lottery chances and a win would help our playoff chances considering we're extremely close to New Orleans in the standings. So really this game will have a big impact on our future IMO.

He's averaging a rediculous 17.1 rebounds a game this month....Wouldnt surprise me if he single handedly out rebounds our entire frontcourt this game.

Nice call by Musselman to end the quarter. Send in the guy for the last 4.6 seconds and have him take a jumpshot instead of dumping inside to Corliss. Gotta love his creativity.

Wow...I thought the sound effects at Arco are annoying sometimes. The sound effects in OK city are horrible. Very distracting. The crowd seems pretty tame.

Gotta love the new philosophy. "Musical Chairs" was my favorite game in kindergarten. I guess Musselman is honoring the game with his own variation, "musical players." Anybody else wonder if he was an unsuccessful hyperactive, neurotic ice hockey coach in a prior life?

I was going with moron but sure - why not

Well, we're up by 1 at the half in the Kings frontcourt vs. Tyson Chandler rebounding game....So far SAR, Artest, KT, and Corliss have a combined 9 rebs to Chandler's 8. GO KINGS!
