Well not like our run at a championship hasnt been over for awhile. But today it hit me like a ton of bricks. WE ARE BACK AT THE BOTTOM and in lots of trouble. I knew we were rebuilding but we are rebuilding from dirt, and not like level dirt. its more like trying to build on a swamp or something.

we got nothing to offer, even if we had a load of cash to spend who wants to come to kick it in hell wit artest, bibby, miller, thomas and friends. we got no coach, owners that think they are more gifted at running a team than one of the best GM's in the league, a run down stadium, and very sorry to say but right now without a plan to build up downtown by adding a new stadium sacramento is not close to being at the top of any players list of places to live.

The most important thing we dont got is...... LUCK no luck here. ZERO

it dawned on me when billy D. lost his mind (no luck for the kings) that we were now probably SVG's second choice, probably all along (although nothings decided yet, and this isnt for sure, yet) we cant compete with a team like the magic or alot of teams for that matter. Is sad to see what was in 2002 when players were willing to take pay cuts to be here to win. and now where it is today with us getting so excited over a coach like SVG... hes not Phil Jackson, Red auerbach, or even larry brown. sure hes good and the in my mind the best choice for the kings. but seriously what is happening?

Miracles can and do happen so i realize that maybe if we get involved with trading artest to the Knicks we could very well rob them of C. Frye or something like that. And maybe we somehow move up in the draft and get a stud. but wow were in trouble.

You know its bad when the hating on Kenny Thomas stops.

Also i would like to see more hating on Brad Miller and his stupid contract. I
am perdicting that he will be the most hated player half way through next year. if hes not hurt. and even then i will still strongly dislike him.

I have always contended that one of the things that has separate Kings fans from other fans is that they don't hate on their team or its players. I guess we have hit rock bottom, because we do not even have that anymore.

ok dont get me wrong. i dont hate anyone but ..... ah.... well maybe i do hate kenny thomas a little bit. but seriously i love the kings. i will cheer for even kenny thomas and truly hope that when hes playing he does well. its just when he walks to the bench and crys about how unfair life is with his well earned 7mil a year contract. thats what gets me

yes it could get worse all this suffering could be part of a masta plan hatched by the maloofs move this team to the Vegas Kings

Actually considering we havent made any moves yet to rebuild were in pretty good position, we have Martin,Garcia,Price,Williams,Douby who are all young athletic and want to learn the game and help this team, they all have great potential to be good players, Martin great.
We have a lottery pick and this years draft just happend to have a good player in each and every spot from 1-10, so we are guaranteed a good college player with potential.
Artest & Bibby will both be moved, with teams like Lakers, Miami, Minnesota with superstars who are in limbo because they are not winning, Artest & Bibby look really interesting to these teams.. we are going to get a solid trade back whether or not we have alot of trade value.
I can see expiring contracts, a young stud, draft picks being traded for them
which is all on the right path to rebuilding.
If Petrie does things right this rebuilding process may not take long at all..

Yuck! this thread is depressing--I always think there is hope. And it is for damn sure that I have never "hated" a player on my team--The Sacramento Kings. I can "hate" how they play--that is a different story. Annie.

Where is Piksi to assure us that it can always get worse?

Piksi, who I don't know, seems occupied, but I'll take a stab.

I devotedly follow English League soccer, which is structured in a tiered system so that there are four levels where 3-4 teams each year can rise to the top based on points and 3-4 teams can get "relegated" to the next division based on poor performance. The Premiership is most familiar, with teams like Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Newcastle.

The team I follow has gone from the Premiership to the third division (a dramatic fall) over the past decade, lost millions of pounds, dropped attendance, and since they were not able to go the next higher division this season, will have to jettison nearly half the squad and start from scratch based on wage demands by holdover players from years prior. Add to that the fact that the team is owned by an alleged "fan" of the club that won't invest and bite the bullet to take them up, when he clearly has the money.

So yeah, things can get a bit worse....

Everyone keeps mentioning them, but Price and Williams aren't even under contract, and to even included undrafted pick-ups, who've played sparingly, means we're in deep ****!

Take heart: The backcourt of Martin and Price, along with Garcia at the 3 is enough of a reason to tune back in. I don't think it's wise to give up on Brad Miller, especially if He's paired with a high energy four. Miller will be back to 15/10/4 next season I can feel it.

I can easily see them being on the team next season and being factors.

Thank you- I agree with a lot of what you say- We have some differences of opinions, but the overal message is clear. We are not at the bottom. We certainly are not at the top, but we haven't hit bottom yet, and we probably won't.

If you put it into perspective, the roster we have assembled is probably one of the 10 most taleneted rosters in the history of Sacramento basketball (not saying much, but still). Say what you will about Bibby/Artest/Miller but there was a time about 10 years ago when their starting spots were manned by Anthony Johnson/Billy Owens/Duane Causwell. Talk about your bad memories...

We have some bad contracts, and some personel that doesn't fit, but we also have good assets. By my count we have 4 players who we could classify as above average for their NBA position- Bibby,Martin,Ron, Brad, we have young guys who look like they have a future (Garcia, Williams, Martin, Price), a lottery pick, and some vets who might mean something to a team in need of their one-dimensional talents (Corliss, SAR). We also have a good GM. The rebuild should only take a couple of years.

We aren't going to win a WCF next year or two, but we are far from the ROCK BOTTOM that was suggested in this post. This is a team that has featured players like Causwell, OP, Yogi, Michael Smith, Pete Chilcutt, Tyus Edney, Anthony Bonner, Bobby Hurley, Pervis Ellison, Jim Les, Steve Colter, and Alaa Abdelnaby.

We ain't NOWHERE near THAT bottom...

You weren't around for the O.P. years I take it? ;)

Kings are going fast to rock bottom. no one wants to be here. at this point were not going to get our #1 or #2 coaching choices. maybe our luck will change when the kings move to vegas, as part of the death blow to bad luck suffered by kings fans.

Yes, it's a bit depressing at this point, but I'm not breaking out the Paxil quite yet. I was really down when I heard the Van Gundy news, but call me cautiously optimistic that Petrie can sort out the roster problems and hire a head coach that can put an entertaining product on the court. Just more of the Price-Williams-Garcia style of basketball will put me in a better mood.

Agreed. We'll be fine. And as I posted in another thread, if it is Rambis, so what? I'd love nothing more than to have a Laker icon coach us to great sustained success.

The dog days are still far away. Remember?

*points at avatar*

The current talent level of the Kings is still far away from those days.

Depressing. Let's be positive. Ok, we lost a coach who wanted to go to orlando the whole time. maybe this is a good sign for the kings. Things happen for a reason.

Plus, you think this team doesn’t have tradable players, but we do. Reaching rock bottom means you can’t trade any of them (or trade them for good pieces, not just enders or crap contracts). People are thinking that Brad Miller and Kenny Thomas aren’t tradable; I think you can. It might be hard or extremely hard to find someone who’ll take them, but there are teams that need Brad’s hands and Kenny’s board (plus, Kenny can run up and down the court). If you think Artest isn’t tradable, I disagree. Someone will take a chance at him (New York, Miami, Lakers, Clippers). People want to ship out Mike. The guy had one bad season and I’m sure a lot of teams will look past that. He might not be a good defender but he still can shoot and sometimes pass. It seems that the suns need a back-up point guard (could mike bibby be a good fit? And the other question is, will they give good players in return?) Don’t hit me, it’s just an idea, especially since this last playoff run, what if Mike would have been out there in last minutes of game one, who knew what could have happened. We have teams out there who need some extra talent. We’re not dry. We have pieces for other teams and other teams have pieces for us.

Let’s stop all the negativity until we see who Petrie decides to draft, please. The world isn’t over.

Hey Eyeore: are you for real - are you really this down 24/7?
I am seriously starting to get worried about you. I can't ever remember in person or on line seeing such a load of consistent groaning. Try to find something to be glad about - make a game of it. Things are not so bad.

I just saved a bundle on my car insurance.... does that help?

LOL! :D It's the infinitesimal silver lining in the infinitely huge black cloud! :D

It's unfortunate we aren't near rock bottom, because that means we have a ways to go.................DOWN. I welcome the bottom. Then at least we'll know which way is up.

But I don't want people to be too rosy on this situation.:p How about analyzing the teams in the West in comparison to the Kings? Let's see. We've probably got at least a couple of years of getting our brains beat in by San Antonio, Dallas, and Phoenix before they start going downhill. Then we can look forward to Houston, Utah and Portland domination. Portland is going to be a BEAST. Throw in Seattle, who if they could just get out of their own way, could have a very good team, Denver, who as long as they have Carmelo, is a threat, maybe the only teams that we can look forward to playing in the West are the Clipps and possibly Golden State - if Baron Davis continues to form and can't stay healthy. On the bright side, the Lakers are probably going to better than us for a while, which actually is a bad thing for the Lakers, as Kobe is finding out. They are definitely stuck in the middle.
