1kingzfan - We agree on one thing. Bricklayer did make some very good points.
Where I'm still missing the point, apparently, is how they relate to your posited query about potential ties between Musselman and his assistants.
Correct me if I'm off the mark, but wasn't your initial premise based on disappointment that the "best available" might not have been selected...because Muss or his dad had some kind of link to 3 of the new assistants?
Look at this quote again and I think the philosophy behind the choices is pretty clear:
Eric has assembled a group that is going to bring a lot of energy with various levels of experience and background that will work well with him and our players.
If you accept those phrases, then you have to accede to the possibility that the individuals chosen are, in fact, the "best available" to meet the requirements set down by Musselman and TPTB.

I have absolutely NO knowledge of these guys' abilities as assistants...none at all. None of them have NBA "reps" as coaches. That we can agree upon.
These guys may all be excellent hires. These guys may all be the ONLY ones to make the Musselman system work in SACTown. We shall see.
My connectivity observation/potential concern still stands as a question that at least some others that have posted in this thread believe is a valid one.
I agree with a lot of what Brick had to say, except that in just about every case except Dallas the well known assistants are behind other high profile coaches and as I pointed out Harris was already in place at Dallas when Avery was promoted. Its quite possible Harris may not even want to be a head coach again.
Which goes back to my original question of why would any high profile coach (assistant or otherwise) want to be an assistant to a young coach like Muss, especially if their goal is to be a head coach themselves. I think Brick's last point says it all - Muss is bringing in his people that he can count on to run his system. I have no problem with that.
Our biggest worry is who will fill in for Muss as an interem coach?! Uh, ok. Who could have filled in for Rick Adelman? It seems to me that Eric brought in people he trusted. I think VF may be on to something with the "6 degrees..." thing. Even Elston Turner has some sort of tie to Eric Musselman!
