As I agree that the problem isn't Martin, and never really has been. Martin has always had an NBA level skill that some players NEVER get. He can score the basket ball and he can get to the foul line and score. You are talking about a player that once put up F I F T Y in a game once! He is still rusty from the layoff but he will start putting up 20-25 a game soon enough. The problem isn't really any player in particular, it is a POSITION! The Kings have NO Center to play in the Center position at an NBA level of play. WE aint got no one who can defend the Center position on our roster. Hawes isnt ready, Brockman is just too short no matter how much heart the kid has, Greene is too thin and is more of a 3 than a 5. And Paris Hilton Armstrong? PULLeeseee!!! Petrie must acquire a Defensive minded center (preferably 6'11" or taller) to Defend the paint, get the defensive rebounds, perhaps alter the occasional shot, and be a good old fashioned goalie in the paint. The KINGS ROSTER DOES NOT HAVE A PLAYER THAT FITS THAT DESCRIPTION! We are all hoping that Petrie can work some magic and bring on a player that can fill the bill without blowing up the core, but until he does, The Kings will just be another exciting middle to bottom of the pack team that will be fun to watch at times with Evans and Martin scoring and the Kings getting steamrolled in the paint.
Let Petrie evaluate what we have till the trade deadline on FeB 19th! We got time to see if Martin/Evans is gonna be Billips/Hamilton reborn! I am hoping that they will be and that Petrie brings in a Defensive minded Center that Can hold his ground and play D around the rim and in the paint! Petrie is going to take the time to make the right decision for this team for the long haul! Trust Petrie People !!! If we DO have to trade Martin then let Petrie get the Maximum for him from a desperate team who is cap strapped and/or needs that last piece in a scorer that can be huge for team that is in the hunt! Petrie will come thru!
