Kings fans: now is when you earn your stripes

All-Star
First just let me say I've been a fan since the very first game in 85 on Halloween. I was 9 and went trick or treating but I went to a game shortly thereafter. Look I know it's bad now. This thread is not about comparing if it's worse now than it was then. But I do want to put this out there. Right now, when things are very, very bad, in many ways, and looking to get worse, now is when you really earn your stripes as a fan. It's about the good times and the bad times. This is just how it is. Many of the fans on this board have been with the Kings since either day one in Sac or even earlier. When we we good a few years ago, it was so rewarding because they had been with the team for so long. I'm just trying to show that there is a very positive aspect to the apparent horror happening now. When we get through this, you will be able to look back and know in your heart that you rooted for these guys when it was like this. That you cared, even when things were bad. We are going to be very proud of our team when things turn around, whenever that may be. So don't miss this opportunity to earn your stripes!

Just so you know its the because of the kings why i fell in love with the game of basketball, it was their play in the early 2000s that lured me to basketball back then i didnt care about what was going on in the league i was in 2nd year HIghschool back then... but when i saw the kings MAN i wanted to play the game they were so fun to watch... i still remember how frustrated i was when we were that close to sactowns first ring got cheated i know.. ever since i look at how the team is i love how sacramento was dubbed NBA's number one home court advantage.. the fans and the loudness

now i know the teams going through rough times and its pretty frustrating but i know its going to pan out sooner or later. even if it takes one year of miserable play the only way to go is up after you hit the bottom so yeah gimme my stripes :D

Good points.

I'm still a Kings fan to the bone, but admittedly one who gets very frustrated with what's happening right now.

The difference this time around is I'm not still giddy just to have an NBA team in my home town. I've grown to expect certain things from the team I love and it's not just about wins.

Heart and hustle, energy and enthusiasm are possible even from losing teams. That's what I want to see. Sure, the team may get down and depressed but bottom line is they're being paid to play the game. We, on the other hand, don't receive anything tangible from our fandom. We actually pay money to them to just watch them do their jobs.

I love the Kings. I love being a Kings fan. All I really ask in return is that they put forth the maximum effort for two hours a night. Right now, unofrutnately, I think there are a myriad of reasons why they cannot/are not doing this.

I'll still be around when the dust settles. And I'll still be a Kings fan. I just hope this doesn't drag out to the point where the stores don't even carry Kings merchandise any more. That's when you know your team has dropped off the map - and it's not any fun.

Again, though, I do love the Kings and I think the majority of people posting here do, too. They just want/need to know the feeling is reciprocated.
