All of this said, I did feel bad when he came back to town saying nice things and expressing interest in the team’s success, and then got booed (with his young daughter along on the trip).

That had to have been embarrassing and hurtful, so I don’t blame him for the 180 narrative change.

When athletes here are hard working and don’t cause ripples and are respectful, they usually get cheered when coming back.

Hield caused many ripples including a ***** fest with Bogi about who should be starting instead of making it public. Also, he and his agent did handle negotiations of his contract publicly and handled it poorly. Dude came across as me, me, me.

Everything he gets from local fans that is not positive has been brought on by his actions.
