Kings Coverage Takes a Blow

Matt George is leaving Locked On Kings for new career opportunities. I wish him well and appreciate all the passion and journalistic reasoning he brought to us all.

Wait. Kings coverage isn't taking a blow here.
He's going to be on 1140 mid-day, I believe.

Edit: Yep.

Oh, wait. Never mind.

I wonder who will get the Locked On gig? Nunes?

This feels like a bit risky leaving a TV job and a podcast for a mid afternoon radio show.

I keep the 1140 YouTube channel solely to skim Amick’s weekly interviews.
Amick has been the amazing, we're so fortunate his purple roots ran so deep as his star ascended.
I'll say. Not only am I out of market, my car doesn't even have AM radio.
I'm out of market also... for me, 1140 is a YouTube channel or a podcast.

He literally says the same thing every week? They ask him whatever questions they have for the week, and he says he has no clarity on whatever subject they asked about.
What does that matter? It's a small town affair, obviously he'll be asked similar things and he'll answer similarly.

At this point, there is no one I care to listen to in Sacramento regarding the Kings outside of Deuce and Mo for entertainment purposes and Sam Amick for real organizational info. There is literally no one who has the level of league access AND the love for Sacramento.

I guess nothing if you’re ok with listening to a weekly interview not saying anything

I've listened to some of the other guys. George blocked me on twitter for clapping back at him once after stating something fundamentally obvious to anyone that watches basketball. I don't think he's cut for radio unless he doesn't take calls.

Nothing against Matt George personally, but I just can't take him. Constant click bait and just what seems like very basic/fan focused analysis and reporting. Maybe it's just his personality, but it always seems like he's way too dramatic/emotional in his "reporting".
He has the emotional EQ of a child which can still work in radio if you fire off constantly terrible hot takes and scream at anyone who calls you out on them in entertaining fashion. It's a WWE style circus. We all know who those guys are, even Grant took his turns at that. George is like Ham except he's usually more of a homer than a doomer. I don't think he understands the tank at all though.

What gave it away? The “we don’t need Luka” song?

I cannot agree more.

It's why I listed those 3 as the only people I really listen to regarding the Kings.

George was hard to listen to when it was just him, but when he brought on a guest from another Locked On team then he’d tone his personality down and the discussion was often interesting.

I assume iv’e listened to just about all the different people that discuss Kings basketball and currently enjoy Allen Stiles and sidekick Kyle as well as Deuce and Mo the most.
