Kings corner: Deaths are reminders to treasure loved ones
Diary with Corliss Williamson
Published 3:15 am PDT Sunday, April 2, 2006

I know the regular season is winding down and the playoffs are coming up, but I have to admit I really haven't been totally focused on basketball this week.

I've frequently found my thoughts drifting to the fragility of life. Not only did we have the tragic and senseless loss of cameraman John Johnson but also that of (Seattle assistant and former Kings assistant) Ralph Lewis' grandmother.

Those situations definitely make you think about who you are and where you are, and that basketball, although an influential part of our lives, still really is just a small part.

We always have to remember that the most important parts of our lives are how the people around us are doing.

It's been important for me to make sure the people around me know I love and care for them because we don't have anything promised out here.

So I hope when people read this today, they make sure they hug their loved ones and let them know they appreciate and love them.

Let's keep Corliss.

Use his expiring contract and sign him for the vet. minimum.

I love Corliss on the bench, and he can retire where he started.
