Kings can learn from Monarchs

Sure hope a bunch of our Kings were at that final WNBA game and saw and heard what it takes to win a championship: DEFENSE. Coach W said it several times, the players reiterated it several times and even one of the Maloofs came down from the ceiling long enough to say the same, defense won the championship.

Maybe thats why Professor Petrie (the Kings version of Prof. Dumbledore) has 5 guards in camp. Maybe one or two are much better defenders than Bibby and will get more time. ;) Will be interesting to see who amongst the forwards is obviously the better defender.

Congratulations to the Monarchs!! Now if the Kings will pay attention....

Double ditto...Sactowns Finest might be the 10th-13th guy in the rotation if he made the team, but he has to be here.

We just haven't left any room for him on the roster at this point. Ideally he'd be in Corliss's spot. But Corliss is still here. As it is we've got 3 OGs, 2 SFs,a nd 2 tweener PFs who can swing down to play SF. Just no room for him that I can see, and I think that's a real shame given his youth, desire to play here, the fact he brings things we need to the table, and his cheap price tag.

why would you want rasho? eh! i say that lady that does the house party live think on comcast that plays for the monarchs go up and hug bibby.

Rasho is:

1. Easily available if rumors that they tried to get Tariq Abdul Wahad for him and were shot down.

2. While soft as anyone we have, also a better shotblocker than anyone we have

3. A 7 footer.

We are:

1. Weak at shotblocking and interior D.

2. Easily capable of signing Corliss' replacement cheap in Barnes

Makes sense to me, even though I loathe the guy. Skinner (6'9") as our #2 center behind injury-prone Brad makes me nervous.

That would be Kara Lawson.

Please Dude, no offense but don't start with the comparisons. I am a huge Monarchs fan. I was in the house last night!!! One does not have anything to do with the other as far as I am concerned. The Kings are built to play offense, the Monarchs are built to play defense.

Purple, your right. But my point is the Kings could see that stepped up defense wins championships. Sure they are an offensive machine but my point is " they could learn by watching how the local Monarchs won a championship". Just as they could learn by watching Detroit or San Antonio the past 2 years. Thats all.

ARCO Curse has been Lifted

Congrats to the monarchs... yes the kings can learn to play defense like the monarchs, but i think the most important thing is....

THE ARCO CURSE HAS BEEN LIFTED!!!!

the monarchs actually won a championship on the Arco Arena Floor... Therefore, they have cleared the path for Kings, since they broke the Curse of Arco!!! plus, the monarchs stayed injury free enough to win the championship!!! Hopefully the kings will take advantage of what the Monarchs have done for them and win a championship this year!!!!

I don't quite see it that way. The Monarchs PLAYED THROUGH what I would call significant injuries to 3 of their top 6 players in the playoffs.

DeMya got back just in time for the playoffs but was slowed with her massive leg brace.

Ticha was lost to the entire Houston series and was nowhere near 100% for the Finals.

Kara, although playing almost superhuman playoff ball at times, was also NOT at 100% mobility for the post-season.

What I would say is that these injured ladies sucked it up and gave it more than their all, and that indeed was instrumental in bringing the title to SACTown. It's truly a tribute to their desire and heart.

Totally forgot about the Arco curse thing....yes, hopefully one championship team does follow the other next year!!
