Hall of Famer
that is how we do it !

On March 3rd Kings beat Sixers @ ARCO 107 - 99 to improve to 42-19 for the season. It was a very close game in the first 3/4 but late in the 4th quarter Kings managed to find another gear and finish off the Sixers. Webber was huge with 20/10/8/2st, Vlade had 17/13/7/2/2, Pedja had 16/7/12, Bibby had 14/1/7. Bobby had 18/4 off the bench.
After beating up on some of the NBA's lightweights, the Philadelphia 76ers wilted down the stretch against one of its heavyweights. Bobby Jackson scored half of his 18 points in the fourth quarter and Chris Webber came alive in the second half as the Sacramento Kings posted a 107-99 victory over the 76ers, who had a nine-game winning streak stopped. It was the first loss since the All-Star break for Philadelphia, which did much of its damage during its run against teams looking at the NBA Lottery. During their streak, the Sixers had a pair of wins over Chicago and Cleveland, one against Memphis and another at Denver. Those teams are a combined 116 games under the .500 mark. On Monday, the Sixers hung tough against the eague's third-best team and held a 95-94 lead with 2:51 remaining following a basket by Keith Van Horn.
"I really thought we did a nice job of staying with this game," Kings coach Rick Adelman said. "They are playing so well, and Iverson was making shots, but we kept saying, `Don't give them easy baskets.'" We gave them enough to hang around. In the end we made some nice plays to open it up."
"I wanted to be aggressive," Webber said. "We heard the murmurs and that is kind of why you like to play on the road, 'cause your supposed to miss on the road, but I just wanted to come out in the second half and take the same shots and have them go down."
----------------------------------------------------------------
Kings finally beat up on a weaker team and improved to 26-32 which is 2 games behind the 8th PO spot. Kings started a winning streak last night which will be tested tonight in Portland in the 2nd game of the back to back sequence considering that Portland is rested and is much formidable opponent anyways. Also Kings took care of the fact that Lakers were the only team undefeated in division play. Kings still pthetic on the road with 9-20 for the season. On the "bright" side - Kings are not last in the Pacific anymore and it has been a while.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I knew that Lakers were overrated but I wasn't aware of how bad the suck. Now I understand why they turn the lights off in Staples. You don't want to see people throwing up on TV. Basically, if Aaron McKie is Your second best player - You suck. Lakers obviously overachieved but for them another first round exit is a reality. We are not much better but at least we are more realistic about our goals and capabilities. Oh, and we would be underachieving but since we have Muss and he clearly overachieved last night - we are what we are - better than them.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was always fascinated with oxyMorons. Speaking of which - Lakers fans (all 3 of them) have been extremely entertaining last night. Let's see. They showed Horry's shot, mentioned refs from game 5 accused Bibby of constantly palming the ball, complained about the way that Muss coaches and so on. It is a high level of hypocrisy. Thank god - they don't live in past. Good stuff. If You have Kobe on Your team - You should never EVER complain about palming, traveling etc. As for the Muss - he isn't really coaching. He is playing defense - JVG style. So what - should we blame a guy for having a healthy hip ?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike Bibby should be a spokesman for Zoloft in LA because his appearance there is directly proportional to increase of the usage of that antidepressant. Mike averages 35 pts this season against the Lakers. Also Mike believes in equal opportunity so he pours it to the Clippers too. I suggest hypnosis in which Mike will believe that he plays Lakers every night. Would be fun to watch. Also, now I know why Jack Nicholson shaved his head. He wants to be Mike Bibby when he grows up.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I case You already forgot like I did - Jason Hart is not a member of this team anymore. No one cares - I know. Unless You are immediate member of his family - You wouldn't even know that he was a NBA player. His "legacy" is tied down to an award in a meaningless game thread on a fan site. What else will he be remembered for ? Complaining, sucking, shooting threes in garbage time ... He couldn't even properly wave a towel. He will be forgotten in less than a week. Speaking of forgotten - I was told that at some point of this season -Mo Taylor was even starting for the Kings. This amnesia is killing me.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Speaking of the 2 extra roster spots - Doug and Jackie Christie are available. We need a solid practice player anyways. Maybe the kids could learn something. On the other hand just having Ron and Jackie in the same vicinity has potential for drama. I mean we are apparently still trying to get in the post season. And knowing our luck - we probably will. As Ron has informed us - we are still the best team in the NBA. Now I can sleep much better because before that - the suspense that it might not be us - was killing me.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Coach's corner edition is sponsored by "nip/tuck", LAX and "baywatch." Last night a miracle of the millennium happened. Muss - probably unintentionally- outcoached the "Zen master." He opened the game much better, confused the Zen master with irregular substitution patterns, managed to cat the dosage of the kool aid, even called a very well timed timeout which stopped Lakers run. We all know that it is better to be lucky than good. If Muss is aiming for contract extension it is probably now or never. I just want to savior this moment because it might not happen again - EVER.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
So we beat the worst team in the league - so what ? Lakers suck and that is not the news. I predicted a win and after the first quarter in which we were up by 10 and they shot 71% - it was obvious that something special would happen. We shot well, moved the ball well and didn't turn the ball over much. Obviously we couldn't rebound. No one had more than 5 rebounds and we were outrebounded by 15. Otherwise we would have beaten them by 40.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME
TDM - Cook didn't win it. Aaron McKie did. He was brilliant until he realized that he was old in the 2nd half. Muss was trying to defend him from the sidelines but it wasn't working
LW-VC award went to Kwarme Brown who picked the right time to come back from the injury
JH-KT award went to the Zen master by default because he was outclassed by Muss.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Blazers are next. They are rested and dangerous and we are tired so deja vu from Philly might be expected. They are 14-15 at home but have bunch of really tall players. We already won the important game so it will be interesting to see if Muss can get the ready to play. Don't count on it
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike - just pretend that they a Lakers
Ron - nice hairdo
Kevin - priceless
Brad - say hi to Joel
SAR - maybe some consistency
---------------------------------------------------------------
Rest - mateen
--------------------------------------------------------------
Muss - back to normal - I guess. Kool aid flavor of the night - Chanel 5
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Blazers are walking TDM all star ensemble + Randolph. They lost Dixon which is good for Bibby. Aldridge has been playing great. Joel it there too. They are young wild and dangerous and they lead the season 2-1. Aldridge gets the TDM, One of the Kings gets the LW-VC probably Thomas. Kings lose this one easily.
