[Game] Kings at Pelicans, Monday April 12th, 6 PM Pacific (9 PM Eastern)

We'll see how this ends but this is a pretty big deal against direct competition for what you're supposedly fighting for. Maybe this is finally the moment where Monte and the FO get some well deserved heat. Marginal moves at the deadline and going back into a deep sleep won't cut it.

With a deficit like this, how about inserting the deep bench and look for a spark. Cant roll out the same lineup with a performance like that

Most coaches put in the young guys to see of they can spark it. Kyle got a little bit going but he was in a though spot match up wise. This coach doesn't really follow most of anything coaches of years gone have done though. Heck, he thinks garbage time is the last 30 seconds while down by 25.

if Monte and Walton don’t think Woodard and Ramsey are worth playing time now that isn’t a good sign.

I think it's probably more Monte not wanting to push his weight and let Luke do his thing. I have little faith that any of the working parts of the organization are on the same exact page at this point. There's way too much incompetence and freedom for said incompetence to continue for it to be the case.

great use of 2nd round picks

Well I think the bigger point here is that the players themselves might not be the problem. Cory Joseph just had another big game against the Clippers. Nobody is mistaking him for an All Star or anything but all season we watched him dribble around aimlessly looking like he's only vaguely familiar with organized basketball. It's an affliction which has creeped into all of our guards in some form or another and it points back to some fundamental issues with our offensive sets. We had a couple of stretches this season where shots were falling and we piled up assisted baskets but were let down by our defense. By and large though we basically have one or two action sets and then guys are expected to just improvise from there. That might work in small doses but it's not going to work if you replace a large chunk of the rotation with new players or if you can't consistently space the floor with high percentage shooters or if the defense knows your sets and beats you to your spots.

Damian Jones has been the only Kings big willing to defend a Zion drive all night and did a good job.

Yeah, things have gotten this bad but he isn't looking too shabby out there on defense. It's hard to tell because he's the only one with a consistent pulse on the Kings tonight so it might be magnified.

Geez, Damian Jones starts the half, actually defends the paint and all of the sudden everyone’s pace picks up
