Lol ok if me saying I never knew his name is push back then yeah I guess I’m a pushy little jerk.
In almost every [Game] thread, if someone makes a comment** about a team's announcer that doesn't acknowledge their name, I respond with some variation of "Put some respect on X's name!" Most people either ignore it, or chuckle, and keep it moving. You're the first person to reply with some kind of variation of, "Yeah, I don't know their name. And what about it?" From my point of view, the case could be made that you were the one picking a fight...

** In fairness, it's usually @SLAB; he seems like the most likely to say it, and I know for sure that he gets the joke.

Maybe it was the agressive first response from you with the “he’s been calling GD lakers games….” Maybe you are from a different area than I am. But where I’m from when somebody throws a GD at me in person acting like I’m an idiot for not knowing. We usually have a discussion about it and that person will have to answer for that aggression.

The gd wasn't directed at you, it was directed at the gd lakers. I always refer to them as the "gd lakers," because they're the gd lakers. I call them the gd lakers, like if that was the actual name of the ball club, intentionally not capitalizing their name, and all. With all the disrespect that I associate with getting their name wrong 100 percent intended.

The same way that I never refer to the guy who used to wear #17 for the gd lakers by his government name. Because, as far as I'm concerned, his actual name is **** You, Rick Fox, or FURF, for short.

And, you're right, I'm pretty sure that I am from a different area than you; I am, technically, from the South, but I am not of the South, and I do not share Southern sensibilities.

I’ve been around awhile and can confirm he always refers to them as the gd lakers and it’s referred to them not you. But I can also confirm with past interactions with slim not to take everything said to heart. Sometimes it’s in jest, sometimes it’s to “pick a fight”. I usually “fight back when I’m in the mood but if not, just laugh it off.

Perhaps..; As I've gotten older, my perspective has changed on the importance of getting people's names right, and/or actually addressing people by their appropriate name and title, as opposed to simply by their job description.
In my defense, I'm horrible with names. I meet people at a work function, or a get-together, or whatever, and I forget 95% of the names I hear within about 30 seconds. It takes a bit for me to catch and retain names. So in this instance, when I'm watching a game and I don't know the announcers, it doesn't matter to me if I catch their name or not because I likely won't remember it anyways.
