Kings add to coaching staff--Hire Cousin's old highschool coach

The reasoning is indeed similar, but there is also a "come on" aspect to that comparison -- Fisher was at that time one of the most famous college coaches in the land and a guy with a NCAA title under his belt. There is no doubt at all why he was hired, but his resume was potentially NBA caliber even without it.

Didn't we hire someone specifically for Ron Ron, too?

If he had no connections with cousins and we hired him based on his credentials alone(most worthy the big man camp) then we'd have no complaints. It's the fact that he was cousins' HS coach that has some peoples' panties tied up in a bunch. Geez, there's always a complainer. Just live life people and stop stressing over pointless arguments. This is a good hire, continue on with your day, and let's look forward to a great season.

No! There has to be someone to ***** and moan about it otherwise everyone would just be happy and that can't be life! The Kings suck, plain and simple, and we want them to continue to suck, so why would we be happy about the hiring of not only a potentially valuable big man coach but someone who can help ease the transition of our future all star/superstar center and provide a familiar, trusting face that can help him mature into a man? Why why why? We MUST ***** and moan about this because we are unhappy with our lives and anything positive is a negative in our world. Waaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!

Actually, I think it's a great hire. It's OK to babysit a guy with the promise of Cousins.

A kid that age could easily flush his career down the toilet from one thoughtless f--k up.

Having someone like Otis around who he knows and respects can make all the difference.
So what if it's special treatment, Cousins is special.

If you keep spouting off perfectly sane logic like this then you might as well pack it up. ;)

Brick, I understand where you're coming from and I don't really have an arguments against your take. If the kings came out and said they hired someone out of the big man camp I'd think that was a pretty good idea. Considering the fact that we have 5 or 6 assistant coaches I don't see how spending one spot on someone with his knowledge is a waste especially that some basketball teams have assistant coaches who count fouls, and watch film all day. Nothing wrong with that but there's nothing wrong with a coach who can not only teach cousins foot work fundamentals but also other big men that we have need his services, too. The fact that he's Cousins' HS coach is the cherry on top and the obvious reason he was brought in. My thing is that people just love to complain about something and since he has ties to Cousins people think we're running some kinda gimmick franchise where we're trying to please a troubled kid.

I think so...

Most would say that Chuck "The Rifleman" Person was hired by Kings Coach Theus to babysit Artest in essentially same role he had as an assistant in Indiana. Later, when Artest was traded from Houston to the Lakers once again Chuck Person was brought in by the ZenMaster to look after RonRon.

Most would say that Chuck 'The Rifleman" Person was hired to do everything on the team, including running it. Which is part of what got Theus fired. And Person as well..
