TRENTON, N.J. -- New Jersey Nets star Jason Kidd filed for divorce from his wife of 10 years Tuesday, accusing her of "extreme cruelty" throughout their marriage.

In the dissolution papers, filed in state Superior Court in Bergen County, Kidd accuses Joumana Kidd of physically and mentally abusing him, threatening to make false domestic violence complaints against him to police, and of interfering with his relationship with his children.
"The defendant's extreme and unwarranted jealousy and rage has left the plaintiff concerned about her emotional stability," the papers say.
The divorce filing came less than a day after the 33-year-old NBA player filed a domestic violence complaint seeking a temporary restraining order against his wife.
"Jason Kidd filed for divorce from his wife today on the grounds of extreme cruelty over a long period of time," Kidd's attorney, Madeline Marzano-Lesnevich, said in a statement Tuesday. "As this is an extremely difficult personal matter, I ask that the privacy of the Kidd family be respected."
The Kidds, who live in Saddle River, were involved in a domestic violence matter six years ago when he was playing for the Phoenix Suns.
In that incident, Jason Kidd was arrested in January 2001 after his wife told police he hit her during an argument over their son, Trey Jason (T.J.), who was 2 at the time. Kidd pleaded guilty to spousal abuse, was fined $200 and ordered to take anger management training.
Besides 8-year-old T.J., the Kidds have 4-year-old twin daughters, Miah and Jazelle.
Kidd will make more than $18 million this season.
The Kidds' home phone number is unlisted. An after-hours message left for Joumana Kidd's lawyer was not immediately returned.

And everytime, he goes to the freethrow line, he would blow a Kiss to his wife before he shot the freethrow.

What will he do now.

Blow kisses to his lawyer?:p

EDIT: I was being a smart***. Even tho it is sometimes the right and maybe only solution, divorce is always a sad ending, especially for the kids.

Its better for the kids if they do get a divorce, then they don't have to see all that turmoil that is going on in that household.

Jason Kidd's wife is seriously Jackie Christie-esque in her craziness. Just read about some of the crap J-Kidd had to put up with.

The complaint, however, attempts to paint a detailed portrait of Joumana Kidd as a vitriolic, jealous and paranoid wife prone to public outbursts and threats, including during a recent Nets game.

According to the complaint, Joumana Kidd used the couple's 8-year-old son on Dec. 27 to sneak into the Nets locker room and rummage through Jason Kidd's locker to find his cell phone. After looking up the names and numbers on it, the complaint said she left her son to behind as she went upstairs to take a front row seat, where she shouted insults at Kidd throughout the game.

The papers accuse Joumana Kidd of kicking, hitting, punching and throwing household objects at her husband as she became "increasingly controlling and manipulative" in the last few years of their union.

According to Kidd, his wife had tracking devices installed on his cars and computers and has harassed his trainer, friends and family.

The Kidds were married in 1997 and live in Saddle River. They were involved in a domestic violence matter six years ago when he was playing for the Phoenix Suns.

Despite the numerous accusations by Kidd in the complaint, he did not ask for sole custody of the children.

"It is in the best interest that the parties share physical and legal custody of the children," the complaint said.

Kidd will make more than $18 million this season.

The Kidds' home phone number is unlisted. An after-hours message left for Joumana Kidd's lawyer was not immediately returned.

Jason Kidd did not make himself available to the media before the Nets' game against the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday night.

Let the mudslinging begin:

Attorney: Counter complaint will be filed against Kidd

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2726826
TRENTON, N.J. -- A day after Jason Kidd claimed in divorce papers to be a victim of spousal abuse, his wife's attorney said the New Jersey Nets point guard had no reason to fear the woman.
"
He says he's threatened by her? He's a star athlete. She's 5-foot-2, I think, and 105 pounds," said celebrity New York divorce lawyer Raoul Felder, one of the attorneys representing Joumana Kidd.

"It's shameful what he did here. The truth will come out," Felder said Wednesday, adding his client planned to file a counter complaint within a week.

Kidd, 33, filed for divorce from his wife of 10 years Tuesday, a day after a court issued him a temporary restraining order against her.

In court papers, Kidd said his wife physically and mentally abused him, threatened to make false domestic violence complaints against him to police and interfered with his relationship with his children.

The papers accuse Joumana Kidd of kicking, hitting, punching and throwing household objects at her 6-4, 210-pound husband as she became "increasingly controlling and manipulative" in the last few years of their marriage.

Monday night, Felder said police showed up at the couple's Saddle River estate and, instead of serving Joumana Kidd with the restraining order, forced her to leave.

"The police put her out of her own home, originally giving her 30 minutes to get out with the three children," Felder said. "It turns out the police misinterpreted the court's order."

Felder said Joumana Kidd's New Jersey attorney, Gary Newman, got a court order changing it Tuesday morning. "She stays in the house,"

Felder said. "If he wants to see the kids, he has to pick them up curbside, according to the order."

Calling her "a battered and harassed wife in every sense of the word," Felder said it was "absurd" to think the former model was the abuser in the relationship given Kidd's former domestic violence charge.

"He's going to have to deal with the real court and not the basketball court," Felder said.

Geez, ever heard of Tawny Kitaen(she's 5'7)? She allegedly beat her ex-husband, former all-star MLB pitcher Chuck Finley(who's 6'6) with her hands and boots. Charges were dropped in exchange for anger management.

I bet Phil Hartman didn't expect much out of his wife too. Don't ever pee off a woman sufficiently.

PS: I'm afraid of Tawny Kitaen and I've never met her. Especially tread carefully around the ones who dye their hair red.

That's a red herring if I ever saw one; it's real easy for a woman to beat up a man, becuase if the man fights back, he's going to jail, ESPECIALLY one that's already been convicted of hitting his wife. I'd feel threatened, too.

And, as has already been mentioned, just look at Tawney Kitaen.

So she's back on the market? Sweet...

I mean absolutely no disrespect whatsoever, but I have the distinct feeling your bank account is nowhere near what you would need to even get her to admit you exist on the planet.

Ridiculous...really

Was Jason unfaithful? http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/nets/story/487761p-410591c.html
Her lawyer: 'Do they sell pantyhose at Macy's?'

The spurned spouse of New Jersey Nets star Jason Kidd denied through her lawyer she beat her husband and said that if he wants to fight dirty she too has ammunition - accusations he cheated on her.

Asked if Kidd was unfaithful to his wife, Joumana Kidd's lawyer Raoul Felder said, "Do they sell pantyhose at Macy's?"

"He's been gone awhile and no one knows where he stays," the celebrated divorce lawyer said. "That right there should tell you something."

Felder would not name names and dismissed Kidd's divorce petition as something from "the realm of fantasy."

"Fantasy will be met with truth," Felder said. "He is going to find out it's a lot more difficult dealing with things in a court of law than on a basketball court. I believe she has grounds to divorce three different people."

But so far, the only motion to seek a divorce came from Kidd, who blindsided his wife Tuesday by filing an explosive petition in Bergen County Family Court in Hackensack, N.J.

Kidd, 33, who portrayed himself in court papers as the victim of an "increasingly jealous and paranoid" woman, concentrated on his free-throw shooting at the Nets practice yesterday and shunned the media.

But shortly after Kidd dropped the legal bomb on his 34-year-old wife, he expressed hope that "we can resolve this as quickly as possible and move forward."

Felder said that might be wishful thinking and reminded reporters that Kidd was once busted for punching his wife in the mouth in a fight over his eating their son's French fries.

"He apparently is now trying to backpedal and talking about needing privacy," he said. "But once the genie is out of the bottle you can't put it back in. What happened here is appalling."

Felder also ridiculed the 6-foot-4 point guard's contention in court papers that his wife resorted to punching, kicking and throwing "nearby household objects" to resolve marital disputes.

Felder said Kidd pumped up his wife's height and weight to throw some weight behind claims that she beat him up. "He says she's 5-5, 110 pounds, but she's actually 5-2, 105 pounds," he said.

And Joumana Kidd is no man-beater, according to her lawyer. "She would have trouble with a 6-year-old on roller skates," Felder said.

"She's a very slim, little person."

Felder also called "untrue" Kidd's claims that she bugged his computer and car - and used their son to steal his cell phone from the Nets locker room so she could see who he had been calling.

"He takes something that has a trace of truth and builds it up," Felder said. "Nothing happened the way he has alleged."

Felder predicted that when the divorce is over, "he's going to regret what he did."

"She was devoted to her marriage," he said. "She's a very religious woman and she had her marriage and her kids, that's it. And that's as it should be."

Kidd, a star point guard who is in the fourth year of a $99 million, six-year contract with the Nets, has been married to Joumana Kidd, a former model and sometime television personality, for 10 years. They have three kids.

Kidd's lawyer said Felder was blowing smoke.

"Don't be distracted from the facts," said Madeline Marzano-Lesnevich. "This case is about spousal abuse and a pattern of extreme cruelty by Mrs. Kidd."

He filed for divorce a day after he took out a temporary restraining order out against his wife - a move that led to her being booted out of their swanky Saddle River, N.J., home.
Joumana Kidd was allowed to return home after her lawyers and Kidd's lawyers quickly agreed that she should be allowed to stay in their home. She didn't come to the door when a reporter knocked. Her lawyers said she also has taken a temporary restraining order against Kidd.
Kidd flew to Chicago last night for tonight's Nets game against the Bulls.

1.)For starters unless you actually called to see if Macy's sells pantyhose, Macy's.com doesn't sell pantyhose.

2.)Vince Carter's recently separated from his wife......Jason(hypothetically) could be staying over there which is right across the street from his own house

3.) Three inches and 5 pounds isn't exactly pumped up weight.

4.) He's not even asking for sole custody of the kids, the divorce papers mention child support, visitation rights, court fees and the like
(I myself have seen the divorce papers but as a rule will respect the wishes and not post it here)

5.) You forgot her career, if it wasn't for who she's married to, you wouldn't be her lawyer would you

OMG! An NBA superstar may have cheated on his wife? The horror!!!

That's the worst they can throw back in rebuttal?

This is gonna get really, really ugly. And it looks like Felder is the male version of Gloria Allred.

Blech...

She's in a bad spot too. She's gotta find a rich guy who'll take her kids in. Mabye she can find a fellow divorcee w/ some of his own (if his name is Brady, that would be awesome).

Regret = tell all book. Worthy's former wife contends that they're still friends and that she watches the SuperBowl at his house w/ his new wife, but that don't stop her from appearing on every talkshow about cheating athletes and reminding us that James was arrested for soliciting two escorts. I'm sure he loves that.

The only ex-wife whom I'm pretty sure won't reveal bad stuff is Juanita. Mike's got enough cash to buy her contentment for the rest of her life. That is one book I'd love to read though. I can only imagine the stuff he's gotten away with.

I'm not sure -- he did draft Kwame 1st and Morrison 3rd. His judgment off the playing field is a little shaky.

He's pulling a Howard Stern here. Now that he's retired and his kids are older, he no longer needs a mommywife and he wants to wolf around w/o having to search his clothes for lipstick and perfume before he walks in the door.
