KG has apparently told

KG on the Suns is going to be scary as hell. Sheesh I'd be absolutely terrified to face that team.

You get just as good an offensive player with a post game. And on top of that he's a damn good interior defender (something the Suns never really had) And he's a better rebounder than Stoudamire (assuming he gets traded)

I think if a trade happens it'll be for Marion, PHX's 2 picks in the draft, ATL's pick next year+PHX's pick next year, and Barbosa.

You can't trade away your first rounders back to back, plus those are pretty low picks to begin with. It's more likely it'll be the rumored Amare deal. You wouldn't need both guys on the front court, they would only get into each other's way, unless one guy concedes to the other. Marion or Barbosa's outside shooting would be more useful next to KG anyhow.

Big name players are on the block, but we have little to offer anyone.

That's just way too much at this point for KG. Marion is a major player in hie own right. so is Barbossa. And KG is 31.

Last rumor I saw had it simply being KG for Amare and Atlanta's pick in next year's draft (which I think automatically goes to the Suns now that Atlanta got to keep this year's pick). Given Amare's own near superstar status, that might just get it done. Minnesota turns back the ticking clock with a young star big, Phoenix sacrifices that seemingly endless future of annual contention to make a serious serious run now. A KG/Marion frontline...truly a fantasy basketballers wet dream. Two monster rebounders/stat stuffers/do it all types. And without having to give anything else up, maybe the sort of subtle change of tone (more defense/boardwork) to take the team over the top if Nash can sustain for another year or two.

i can't believe the suns would give up amare i mean kg is wonderful but amare has not even begin to hit his peak, so i guess the suns want to win now!!!

i could see it happening if the suns truly believe it will push them over the top. whats the point of going to the playoffs yearly and not getting the crown?

true very true but if they don't win it then they'll be complaining about loosing amare, uh basketball when did become so hard just to play basketball everyone wants a trade everyone wants top$ shut up and play basketball!!!

At least that's how I would have put it...

Marc Stein that he would like to go to the Suns, and he has cancelled a trade to the Celtics.

I don't think Garnett can cancel trades. He can refuse to show up if traded but he cannot simply cancel an agreement made between two teams.

I have to wonder how much substance there is here. Stein is one of those who is either totally right or way out in left field.

He told the Celtics that he'd opt out next year and he wouldn't be happy playing for him. That basically cancelled the trade because they won't trade their future for 1 year with KG when he's decided he'd hate it there anyway.

Ah, thanks for clarifying.

:)

No problem. I dont see why he wouldn't want to play in Boston though. IMO a KG/Pierce combo could do real damage in a pathetic conference like that. LeBron got his team to the finals with an awful supporting cast. It doesnt make any sense to me.

I agree, that seemed fuzzy thinking unless he looked at Ainge as GM and was thinking, oh no, not another McHale.

Also think that it will lessen it somewhat for him if he gets traded to a top contender as opposed to someone he makes into a top contender. But at this point in his career he probably does not really care about such niceties.

It would have been a horrible trade for the Celts, all their stockpiled young talent and their pick for a 2-3 year window with Pierce and KG... just more proof that Ainge has no long term plan. I know they're frustrated with where they wound up in the lotto but they can get a solid player at #5 to build their core and perhaps make a move with Ratliff's expiring in the next year... if they don't keep making dumb trades. And perhaps if they don't tank next season karma will smile upon them and bless them with a good pick.

Yea but look who the Cavs had to play and how it turned out, say he did go to the Celtics and make the finals next year, they would still be playing a west team and probably wouldnt win the title, but if he were join a team like the Suns they would probably win it all.

That would mean the the Celtics would be a lot more enticing than the Suns. I think it would be the opposite. After years of trying to make a team a contender, he'd prefer to go to a contender to make them champions.

He obviously wants to go to a championship contender. If Boston gives up anything in the deal, which they must, he doesn't want to be in another situation that is just a little bit better than the current Minni situation.

The latest incarnation of the deal, according to sources, would have required the Celtics to send blossoming forward Al Jefferson, its No. 5 overall pick in next Thursday's draft and Theo Ratliff's cap-friendly contract in addition to Wolves alumnus Wally Szczerbiak and troubled guard Sebastian Telfair in exchange for Garnett and Wolves guard Troy Hudson.
Let's assume that this deal mentioned in the Stein article actually went through and the Celtics were left with Garnett, Pierce and whatever else they would have left.

What would they need to do to go from a team with a star and a superstar to a team who is a real championship contender?

first, i think that minnesota has to hold out for amare in the deal.

second, i think that nash and kg play a different game. remember when pippen played for the rockets? he was terrible because that wasn't his kind of game. not that scary. now if kg was a big post presence, maybe. that's the knock on him. he's a tall shawn marion.

How is that the current MN situation? He would be on the same team as Paul freaking Pierce. Pierce is a 25/5/5 guy who is clutch. Pierce is a legit star. MN could offer their whole roster besides KG and they wouldn't get Pierce. Then Boston has other young talent they could send out in a trade to get supporting role players.

Pippen played fine with the Rockets. They did very well in the regular season. (especially considering it was the lockout year and they didn't have much time to play together) They just sucked *** in the playoffs. Not to mention Barkley and Olajuwon were becoming ancient at that point. The Pippen trade was a last desperate move to win another title and when Pippen showed up, he realized that the other 2 guys were getting pretty old and then started whining and crying and badmouthing the team including Barkley who took the veteran minimum so we could sign-and-trade for Pippen. The Pippen debacle had to do with the fact that Pippen pulled a Vince Carter and just whined the whole time.

And KG will do just fine with Nash. He's not a selfish superstar at all and can play off of other people if necessary. Also, KG will be great because it takes the burden of off Nash to do everything. Now they can run the offense through KG and make things easier. Not to mention KG is a far superior defender and rebounder.

Like us, they're not really in a position to worry about that. By the time the T-wolves become relevant again, KG will be in full declining-veteran mode.

wow thATS LIKE 4-5 YEARS THEY'RE GOING TO SUCK REMINDS ME OF US! TWOLVES AND US ARE IN THE SAME BOAT:confused:

No way I would be giving up Amare for ANYONE! He is a stud in his own right and is yet to hit his prime.

Man I am so sick and tired of stars dictating where you can and cannot trade them. How can you demand a trade and then refuse to be traded anywhere except to one of the best 2 or 3 teams in the league? Why doesn't everyone just quit all at once so they can live out their childhood dream of being Michael Jorden...er I mean, playing for the Bulls? Just fudge the rules a bit so Chicago can expand their roster to 350 players or so. Now everyone can get a ring! Problem solved. Or maybe the Lakers or the Knicks. I'd tell KG he can take his "I want to make $22 million dollars a year and play for whoever I want to play for" act and shove off. And then I'd get the other GMs to concede that the only way this nonsense is ever going to end is if nobody signs him. You don't want to play KG? Fine. We won't pay you to. Give him the Latrell treatment. Let him and Kobe start their own league. I don't even care if he is the best player in the league. Phoenix or the highway? You can take the highway. There's 30 teams in the league KG. 30. If you want to be traded, I'm going to find the best deal I can. If you don't like it, tough.
