i have a question

why does kevin martin get soo few touches? he is our team leading scorer, the leader in field goal percentages, but he has virtually no plays ran for him. why? i watched the game closely even though he made some mistakes, most of the time when he touched the ball something good happened. he can drive in the lane and A) get a lay up. B) shoot his running jumper or C) pass the ball to an open teammate. kmart is a great playmaker but NEEDS to touch the ball more!​

From what I've seen the reason Kevin has virtually no plays called for him is because the Kings (despite rumors of some type of offense) have virtually no plays to call for him. He has to call his own play, either by getting open in the halfcourt or by busting out in transition. Last night he seemed withdrawn or distracted in the first half so that didn't help his cause.

Martin should have went right at Kobe b/c he is faster so he would have gotten by him, but Kevin played scared last night, when Kobe was on him he just held the ball for a few seconds then he passed it.

I don't know where you can say Kevin played scared.

He doesn't have plays called for him.

He rarely gets the ball passed to him.

He was discovering how to play against Kobe which he's only done briefly up to this point. And in the 2nd half, Kevin knew what to do and did it.
