Kevin Martin on the cover of NBA 2k9?

I was hoping someone would pick up on it.

BTW, if y'all are gonna go old school:

You call that old school? That's 3 on 3. Hell, I remember the first Atari one where it was one on one and the basket was a simple line.

Since this is just a "what if" thread anyway, I think it's safe to assume that young players like Martin would definitely be considered - AND his pricetag to be on the cover would most likely be much more affordable than Dwight "Superman" Howard. I don't know how they're selected or what the criteria is, but Martin has the ability to electrify an audience AND kids seem to really like him...

Check eBay.

;)

young players like martin might be considered, but I doubt Martin even comes up on the long list of candidates. yes Martin deserves it but getting the cover is nothing about how your regular season goes.

yeah kids from Sacramento like him but how about kids in New York, or Texas, don't even know the name Kevin Martin.

Could it be possible? They have been taking up and coming players (such as this years, Chris Paul) and Kevin is currently the most productive scorer in the league. He has all the makings to be a top 3 scorer due to how many times he gets to the freethrow line a night and is currently sixth in league in scoring behind the likes of Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Allen Iverson and Amare Stoudemire. Last time i checked thats pretty elite company! And to think none of those guys play with the ball hog that is Ron Artest.

I really think there could be a market for the first Sacramento King to ever grace the cover of a video game. I know if it were to happen it might be the first time i buy more than just one copy of a game.

I could see this happening. Chris Paul was in much the same position last year as Kevin was this year. People who payed attention knew he was golden, but outside of that he was on a crappy team. So i could see that happening. And he'd be cheaper than Dwight, but Dwight is a much more probable candidate. Depends on if NBA Live gets to him first.

As much as Kevin Martin might deserve the cover he won't get it because he is not marketable. Too many pseudo-NBA fans would walk up and wonder who this guy is. Let the Kings get back into the playoffs and have Martin show his stuff before giving him the cover.
