Kevin Martin makes dream come true

Kevin is obviously a great guy, and a caring human being. Exactly the type of guy you want on your team. But he needs to leave that stuff behind when the ball goes up. I would love to see him play pissed off and with a chip on his shoulder.

One of the great things about being a Kings fan has always been the knowledge that our players, for the most part, take the time to reach out and do the extra things in the community. I'm really glad to see Martin continuing the tradition as have so many before him.

I think maybe this one thread could be about that and not turn into a discussion of his game play? Just a thought...

Thanks, Kev, for helping "Make a Wish" come true for that young boy.

Everything I've been told by friends who know Kevin well was epitomized in that one video. He is a generous and caring young man who went way beyond what was asked to make that boy's dream an experience of a lifetime.

Thank you, Kevin, for being a Sacramento King we can all be proud of.

Kevin is earning around $10M a year now. If once in a while he will do community service as easy as this one which probably costs him peanuts and just a little bit of his time, I wouldn't exaggerate it as AWESOME, GENEROUS, and a GREAT GUY. I wish our players could do what Mutombo had done and I will call them awesome and great.

This was heart-warming. Always nice to see a gesture of goodwill from the Kings. Wish the boy health and happiness- he truly seemed in awe.

Not everything that players do gets publicized, nor do they want it to be.

i wouldnt compare kevin martin's generosity to dikembe mutombo just yet... one mutombo has been in the league LONGER than k-mart and i bet he has more dollars to spend than k-mart hence he can do bigger community service...

k-mart hasnt even been paid his first 10m yet... (i think). any ways... not bashing on mutombo and kmart.. both are good guys

still.... as i always have believed... small or not the fact that you gave time and a certain type of good will. big or small it doesnt matter, God smiles on yah

least hes not like spreewell... what? 5 million dollars and you cant even feed your family with a happy meal?

k-mart props to you! got loads of respect for you man!

Wow. What Kevin did was generous, thoughtful and kind. The time he spent with that young boy was priceless to the young man and his father. At the game, the father said it was a once-in-a-lifetime dream come true for his son, that the whole family was able to enjoy with him. That's what the Make A Wish Foundation is all about.

Generosity does not always have to be monetary to be great. To spend his time making that boy feel special makes Kevin a fine young man in my eyes and a great reperesentative of the Kings. And this is not a first for Kevin.

Also, if you wanted an example of generosity why didn't you mention a former and special King who is easily a comparable match to Motumbo? You could have named the man who is being honored at Arco tonight.

Give Kevin credit for doing the right thing, but don't knock the guy for not being Mutombo. Kevin didn't grow up in a war torn country, so I don't expect him to do what Mutombo has done for his country, or what Vlade has done for his.

Mutombo is one of the greatest humanitarians professional sports has ever seen. I wish there were more guys who tried to do a fraction of the things Mutombo has done. But this isn't the first time Kevin has done more than he needs to. Kevin did spend part of the summer in Africa for Basketball Without Borders.

The best way to handle insight like that of Prince_XY, especially in a thread like this, is to simply ignore him. Arguing with him merely accomplishes his objective.

I like to see these stories, especially when a player reaches out to an individual. Kevin is clearly a good guy who uses his success to reach out to people. Good for him and good for Austin.
