who thinks we should change he power forward spot

kenny is a undersized power forward with a bad outside shot i

with bonzi and artest as post offense we need a 4 who can step out and shoot the rock

no. and no to the "we need a 4 who can step out and shoot the rock." we need a big who's gonna act as a utility player, grabbing boards and closing down the paint. leave jump shooting to kevin martin, mike bibby, francisco garcia, and brad miller.

No.

Damn good rebounder and has quickness. But, 6'8"/6'7", lost jumper, not a shot-blocker, isn't suitable as a back-up, in the west, and other big is Brad Miller. Is better suited with a center like Yao (Howard)/Camby (K-Mart, can go either way though)/Shaq (Haslem)/Amare (Marion, last season).

Negatives overpower the positives, and he has to be gone.

Negatives overpower the positives for us maybe.

Brad Miller and Kenny simply can't be our frontline. I almost wouldn't have a problem with keeping Kenny if we got a C that fit him. But Brad's not going anywhere and between the two you take the All-star.

Out. But if/when you do that, that makes it even more imperative that whoever you bring in to replace him board the hell out of the ball.

Need a defender/shotblocker there. Not an undersized grumpy guy. Not sure how movabel he is though, although maybe as the years tick off on that contract he becomes moreso.

P.S. As asn aside, its become fashionable to say that Keny has a bad shot, but he really doesn't. In fact he's pretty good for a PF. Unfoirtunately its nothign he or we can count on, and its about all he can consistently do against bigger opponents.

I would use the amnesty clause(sp?) on him if there's no takers. I'd cut him outright because he is not a starter, and he's too dam disruptive off the bench.

get him out. he's one of the players that destroys the chemistry w/ his me first attitude of starting. we need a player that will buy into the team concept. hes a bit undersized for that position also. hopefully we can find a sucker to take him for an expiring contract(zeke thomas are you listening) =)

i voted yes, but as a bench player behind Shareef Abdur Rahim. Why not? He's a good player, great hustle man.

But Shareef should be our starting power forward of the future.

I would say out- he is not a starting PF in the West, and he seems to have no desire to be our 6th man.

So the questions become what can you get for him, and who would be interested???

You are not going to get a defensive-minded starting quality PF for KT. The market simply isn't there. The frontline is going to have to be solved some otehr way.

What Kenny can bring us is the impact backup point guard we so badly need. KT will garner the most interest from an Eastern team that has no problem rolling a 6'7" forward out to start or come off the bench at PF. Face it, his speed and ability to rebound make him the ideal Eastern Conference PF.

So if we can turn Kenny Thomas into a Chris Duhon, Antonio Daniels, or Carlos Arroyo type player (essentially a new version of Bobby Jackson) I say do it. Let's not get overly greedy. We are not going to trade Kenny for a stud, but we could easily trade him for a dynamic 6th man PG.

I say get rid of him, he's a cancer. If we can't get a decent player for him, I'd take an old pair of gym socks and a half eaten day-old sandwich! Good Riddance.

P.S. Take your me first attitude with you when you go!!!

I think you're right Rain Man. It is really too much to hope for that we can trade Kenny for an expiring contract or a big man. We'll have to trade big for small in this case. We have a tradeable expiring contract in Corliss, and the MLE to use on our rebounder/big man.

That's right...but let's not throw away the possibility of K9 and some other expendable pieces of ours from some great utility...Petrie is good at pulling off some great trades, let the guy work some more magic for us. If we get a good backup PF for K9 then so be it, we definately need that anyways, but someone really good or a starter that wouldn't mind coming off the bench and being our 6th man if we paid him the $ of a starter. Let's use our great Arco fan 6th man effect to get some good players over here that would love to play for such loyal fans. I know that our loyal and loud fans have made it favorable for players to consider Sac who otherwise wouldn't have years ago....also turning people that had a troubled past into heros again and given them redemption and a clean slate(Webber, Wells, Artest). :D

Many have said that sar will be great off the bench but i don't think he will be willing to do that, he only did that for the better of the team. But in my opinion RA is gone next year, which means we will bring in a new guy, a new system with players that see fits it. There will be a roster changes but how many and who goes dependes on what coach we get.

Because he won't accpet coming off that role.......or at least not produce that well.

He has talked about how he has always been a starter and needs that type of role. Remember him coming off the bench? he didn't produce as well.

I love Kenny but he would be better, like was said, with someone like Yao, Shaq, etc....

That was a one-time deal. It was part of the new Collective Bargaining Agreement ironed out last summer. It will not be an annual event.

Once again, someone acts as though it's up to the player to decide his role on a team.

Maybe it is, if the player is named Kobe Bryant, or Lebron James, or Tim Duncan, or someone at that level.

Shareef Abdur-Rahim is NOT at that level. His value to a team will be gauged on what he's done recently and NOT his statistics from years ago, so please don't even bother to post them again.

There are a lot of possible roster changes that could either put SAR into the starting 4 slot or make him our sixth man. He'd better look around and remember he got to his first playoffs with the Sacramento Kings BECAUSE he was willing to do what was asked of him. If he adapts a prima dona attitude, he's liable to find himself in the doghouse at the end of the bench.

SAR can be a very good player for us if he has a good Center doing the rebounding/shoot blocking, but remember too that he has lost a lot of muscle this year and hopefully will gain it back in the off season and be more of presence.

Look at what K9 did with his pre-Maddona attitude....he is a starter ahead of SAR. I'm not saying SAR should do this, but we rewarded K9 this year, and hopefully will not keeping doing so because we do need something different than him and Brad up front for us.

I say in.

The guy on this frontline that needs to go is Brad.

Kenny is the perfect role-player for this Ron Artest-era hustle and defense team. (Moreso the hustle portion)

Sure, he isnt big, but he makes up for it in scraping and energy.

Every team needs their role-players, and Kenny is one of ours.

I tend to agree, and haven't thought about this as much with us as with other teams. Just would need to get a center like Nazr/Pryzbilla/Camby/Magloire. AKA big, legit shotblocker/rebounder. Aside from that, would still need to get a back-up big like Griffin/Elson/Cato. Unless we'd keep Potapenko or Sampson around.

I'd be open to that ^.

Can we move him for a second round pick? How would the salary work?
it wouldnt without another player thrown in to get within the alotted perameters for a trade, Kenny will make $6.72 million next year. Who knows what happens with K9, moving Brad to PF would be good for him(Brad) maybe, but then we need a center, and Reef isnt big enough, and doesnt rebound or defend like we need at that spot. I say try and work something out with SA for Nazr, if they dont want him anymore, which might be the case, the remaining playoff games will tell that story. I cant really think of any other possibly available centers that fit our needs.

Trade him and Brad now!

I agree, even for decent scrubs, we need to build our bench backup and not have Bonzi or SAR coming off of it...both of these guys are starters. Miller and K9 are big cry babies and need to get the heck out of here, turn that frustration with a bad call into something positive on the court and don't cry about it. I do like K9, but if he cannot come off the bench and be productive like he hasn't this year, bye bye K9

KMart & Cisco still need some time...we definately need some size off the bench, we are so deficient in that area....away with the Princeton system and bring on the Bad Boys system with your core of Artest and Wells. :D

Thomas could be a really good 6th man but he has shown his true colors when asked to do that and won't play up to his potential.

I was ok with KT until him and SAR got into it at the end of the season and fox 40 the local news station played in slow motion (so you could read his lips) what he said on the sidelines which was "I am not going to help anyone on defense." I understand you say things in the heat of the battle but this guy continues to say and act like it is all about him.
