MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee Bucks forward Toni Kukoc, who has missed the last 23 games with a right hip strain, was activated from the injured list Wednesday.

Sidelined since November 12, Kukoc has played in just four games this season, averaging 1.8 points and 1.8 rebounds.

The Bucks made a pair of other moves Wednesday, releasing guards Kendall Gill and Eddie House.

Gill, who signed on December 6, appeared in 14 games for the Bucks and averaged 6.1 points and 2.6 rebounds.

Signed on December 18, House averaged 3.2 points and 1.0 assists in five games.

We had talked about House before, and now he's back on the market. Not a great sign just getting released by your second team in a season, and by an Adelman protege too. But clearly is the sort of player we could be looking for, so think his name has to be tossed in with the potentials.

Gill may be nearing the end of the line, but people forget he was once a PG himself back in his younger days in the league. Biggest thing with him is his 1/2/3 versatiltiy could almost scare me a bit with Rick's whole "love the solid vet" thing.

BTW, if we're trying to repalce Bobby not sure why a shoot first Pg is a problem -- wouold think we are looking for a scoring point. Somebody who could give us a shot in the arm with energy and points.

Well, in the last 18 games, House has shot .457% from 3 point land and averaged 1.44 steals a game and 8.9 points agame in only an average of 18 minutes a game. Sounds like energy and scoring off the bench like Bobby provided. With House and Evans in the backcourt, that will provide young energetic legs and a scoring punch to boot.

Eddie House is Bibby's brother in law as well which may play into the equation, but maybe not. House is a streak shooter and when he gets going he is phenominal. He may be a good fit here and I completely agree with Brick in that a shoot first pg is what we are trying to replace.

The Kings need a # 1 guard that can be a floor leader keep the flow going But most importantly he needs to be a player that can apply pressure in the Back court a player that can come in Push the ball find the offense in flow when needed, but the key is on the defensive end is How this player will help the KINGS the most.

Just because we're trying to replace someone with a "shoot first" attitude, doesn't mean it's the best thing for this team.

HORRIBLE things happen when the Kings stop passing the pass. Horrible, awful, terrible things that get our blood pressure boiling and our tempers flaring. We put up with it with Bobby because that's just him, but how many times have each of you screamed when Bobby pulls up and lets go with an errant shot barely across the half-court line with 20 seconds left on the clock? I know I have.

In doing the PBP, I have to focus on certain things. One of those is watching how the offense sets up. When we pass the ball, good things happen.

IMHO the WORST thing we could do right now is bring in a "shoot first" PG. We need someone who will work within our style of play - if the PG shoots first, it spreads like wildfire and EVERYONE will forget about passing altogether. I don't think it's a good idea at all.

How could that be the "worst thing possible" when Bobby is a shoot point pg himself? So you are saying having Bobby is a worst case scenerio? being cynical of course.

That isn't what I said at all. Bobby may have a tendency to shoot first, but he KNOWS our system and he usually is able to work within it - and his moves to the inside are legendary to say the least.

What I said and what I meant was that when we look to fill the spot left by Bobby, we aren't going to find another Bobby. If the only thing going for a potential signee is that they have a "shoot first" attitude, I don't want them. If, on the other hand, they have the shoot-first mentality AND can drive inside and give the big guys fits like Bobby can, cool. I just don't think the emphasis should be on the "shoot first" aspect because it's not how our system is designed to run.

Fair enough, but I think whoever it is, when they learn the offense, they will play within their roll and not try to shoot first. Rick just has to say before the sign the player "look, this is a team oriented offense and if you don't play within the offense, you won't play"

If you look at Petrie's comment, he didn't specify signing a PG per se. What he said was that they would be signing another backcourt player with point guard skills. That's a very clever statement by a very media-savvy individual. He didn't say they were only looking at point guards. And he didn't elaborate on what "point guard skills" he was referring to.

I think Petrie already has some players in mind and I think he'll have his choice ready to sign once the Kings get back to Sacramento.

In our offensie system we only need someone who can bring the ball up the floor. So a point guard who can score (aka "shoot first point guard") is just what this bobby-less bench needs.

I guess my perception of "shoot first" is different. I see it as a point guard who always uses himself as the first option. He brings the ball up the court and if he has a shot, he takes it, rather than moving the ball to other players.

Adelman doesn't go past 8 guys most of the time so either Evans or Martins time gets cut by signing anyone else.

Maybe I'm off since Bibby is the only PG we have healthy right now, but I don't think we need to sign anyone. THe Kings are playing their best ball of the year, we have two young athletic swingmen who can fill any extra minutes at the 2 guard if Bibby gets in foul trouble. Doug is a more than adequate backup PG and with Peja on the floor we still have the shooting we may lose with Bibby along with a long athletic backcourt.

Additionally (this is not an Adelman bash please don't take it that way), normally Adelman won't play his youngsters unless forced to by injuries or trades. If we sign a vet guard I think we see a lot less of the kids which I think would be a mistake as their development could be key for us in the playoffs.

on the waiver wire, eddie house has been released by the bucks... i think he would be a good fit to replace some of bobby's point guard duties... he's more of a scoring guard with some point guard skills, like bobby... he's also mike bibby's brother in law, so i'm sure bibby can help him improve his passing skills...

also new off the waivers is smush parker and kendal gill... some more names for petrie to ponder... hopefully petrie will get someone in soon, to help handle the ball....

I think our first priority is obtaining a guard who can handle the ball under pressure. Right now all we have is Mike and Doug with the rookies reluctant to dribble into pressure. A PG who can handle the ball, penatrate and dish is preferable to a jump shooting "me first" type. On the other hand more bench point production is a huge issue. Moe Evans is contributing more and more all the time but still isn't someone you can count on nightly to give you 10-15 pts. Tough situation potentially requiring a fundamental move by GP. Get well soon, Bobby, you're obviously irreplaceable!

That's what I've been trying to say, thank you for saying it better than I did.

Everyone keeps talking about the "shoot first" PG; I want a "shoot last" PG, who CAN shoot but only does so after at least 10-12 seconds have elapsed off the clock. You know, someone who will read the defense, look for the open Pedja (which I think they should do on virtually every possession) or other open shooter, and then consider a shot.
