Keegan Murray injury update… again

Honestly just shut him down. Keegan looked a little out of shape and being sidelined with an ankle back to back for that long and just sitting is just asking for trouble at this point. Also, the craziness of him never having a sprained ankle means those ligaments are probably screaming by this point lol.

I don't think it would ever happen in THIS draft, but I'd think about it for a top 6 pick. Maaaybe for a top 10 if somebody drops, but anything lower.... nah.

I'd wager Keegan's offensive regression is all mental. You get him on a team that isn't owned by a moron and coached by an idiot, with selfish geezer has-beens hogging the ball every game, by golly he might suddenly become a 16-18ppg third option type with elite defense!

So you better hope that whoever you drafted with the pick you got for him is AT LEAST that good, and the chances of that happening drop precipitously the lower in the lotto you go.

Id take a top 15

Insanity. Kings fans have been for years lamenting the team's lack of quality wings and inability to defend, and now people want to dump Keegan in pursuit of a draft pick that would be unlikely to net a player as good as Keegan is on the wing already. His shooting should progress to the mean in a season not beset by injury and ball stopping veteran play, and his defense is invaluable to this franchise ever shedding their unserious reputation on that end of the court.

I think the idea is not more so Keegan is not good enough but that this is arguably the deepest draft class in the last decade and you get a chance to reset when it comes to salary’s/contracts.

It makes sense to keep Keegan if you keep Domas and try and compete. If not, full rebuild might be the best way to go and landing a 2nd lottery pick this year will help kick start that rebuild

Trade Domas as well and now you have 3 lottery picks this year as well as free up a lot of cap space. That will easily be the fastest rebuild we’ve seen from a Kings franchise ever

I’m not saying this is the way to go but we definitely have options if we make almost everyone on the roster available

I'm trying to imagine how deep a draft would have to be in order for a 15th pick to be worth Keegan Murray. Like, let's say, for the sake of discourse, that Murray never gets any better than he is right now. I just went through every draft in the Lottery Era to see who was picked at #15: it's Giannis and Kawhi and Nash, and literally nobody else, and I don't think you can count on one of those to fall into your laps. And, as ridiculous as the comparisons between Murray and Leonard might be (alleged comparisons, that is, I don't remember anyone actually making such a claim legitimately), to paraphrase Brian Scalabrine, Keegan Murray is closer to Kawhi Leonard than the average 15th pick is to Keegan Murray.

There's a perfectly reasonable set of circumstances where the Kings need to move on from Keegan Murray, but anyone willing to settle for a fifteenth pick needs to have their head examined.

15 for me is pushing it. I’d take top 10 in this years draft

And this draft legit ain't 15 deep from the looks of it lol. It has potential all stars in the top 3-4 then some decent prospects. This is one of those years where mocks have guys going from lottery on some to near 2nd round on others. It's a little like last years but with a little more in the middle lotto. The question could be would anyone trade Keegan for Ament straight up? I get the salary is a major plus with a rookie but honestly it's really just a rearranging deck chairs in the end more than likely.

I mean, if the draft is as deep as y'all say, there's a pretty good chance of getting someone at least as good as Keegan Murray at #10. Just remember that, for every Caron Butler, there's three Thon Makers.
True true. We can take a swing on Jayden Quaintance. He’s 6’10” with a 7’4” wingspan. Arguably best defender in this draft class. Only 18 years old. Finally solve our shot blocking problems

And..... Keegan Murray (1.6 bpg)
Not to mention that Quaintance is the complete mystery man. He has played under 70 minutes on the season, with a whole 3 blocks - following an ACL surgery and apparently unsuccessful recovery. The rest of his game was bad enough during his frosh season with the Sun Devils that despite almost racking up a 10% BLK% he barely cleared 0.100 WS/48. If we took a flyer on Quaintance in the second round I would be OK with it. I don't think Scott Perry can come up with enough motivational tweets to save his job if he drafted JQ top-six or whatever we're bound for.

I meant quaintance as a 2nd lottery pick if we were to obtain one in the top 15 by trading Keegan.

But I agree, he is definitely a BIG risk that can cost Perry his job
