Kayte Christensen

Any questions?

th

None, whatsoever. :D

Any chance you'd be willing to come back, once the stooges are all gone?

She actually talked about this recently. Carmichael Dave stayed at her house on his road trip when he was in Phoenix, and I could swear there was a tweet or something that mentioned both her and Kozimor. I think she'd return in a heartbeat, especially with the revival of the Monarchs on the horizon.

I thought Koz was happily married?

j/k

If the Sacto owners win, I badly want and am determined to find a way to send a message to them with a few little pointers. She is one of them. She's the best female analyst of the NBA I have yet encountered. She was smart, pretty, well spoken, and popular amongst the fanbase. Canning her was classic Maloof incompetence/meddling. New guys want their new peopel or whatever, but sometimes bringing back an old one who never should ahve left would be even better.

Still 6'3" to my knowledge.

Fat Lever and Kayte are the same height. At one of the House Party Live events, Kayte was wearing four inch heels. Fat turned to talk to her and was surprised to have to look up. ;)

I think we could mount a very creditable email/Twitter campaign in her favor. I'm sure we could get Carmichael Dave to chime in.

bring back kayte, for sure. and bring back koz, while you're at it. kayte was around just long enough to make a lasting impression, but koz got the shaft after a lotta years moving up the MSE totem pole. i thought they were a great team. they're two very likable personalities who know how to handle camera time and have considerable basketball acumen at their disposal...

kind of an unnecessary qualifier, no? I can think of one besides Kayte. Doris Burke. who's better than pretty much any other analyst outside of Hubie Brown.

edit: but yeah, bring her back asap!

Noting her gender is not a putdown in this case -- I thought we blew a golden opportunity at the time to have a pioneer of sorts. She can absolutely hang with the boys, and more than hang -- the vast majority of the ex jocks doing commentary are idiots. Being good at bouncing a ball = no particular relation to logical thinking or ability to express yourself. And here came a female ex-jock and her analysis was often just spot on. There is no reason a woman can't analyze an NBA basketball game except pure sexism. We could have broken a barrier. Instead we fired her, whether due to old farts protecting their interests or because of some sort of catty Mama Maloof crap, I don't care. Kayte was good. With just a little support she could have opened doors.

Somebody help me out!! Why is this lady a topic of conversation right now?
Probably because she was shown and talked about briefly on the Kings telecast vs the Suns last night.

And I'd really hope Kayte is brought back, too - she was an excellent sportscaster.

Kozimor can stay where he is - always annoyed the crap out of me with his over-the-top obsequious (fawning) attitude.

I thought Cara (Kara?) Lawson was the best we had, but Kayte was a close second and certainly easy on the eyes! :)

Kara was very sharp, but she lacked charisma. Fairly or unfairly I could see how she got passed over. I loved her stuff, but could see how a more casual basketball fan, you know the type who gushes about an entertainer like Walton babbling on and on about the Grateful Dead rather than basketball, might not have gone for her pure analysis. I personally would have told the casual fan to go suck it, to listen to this woman and to learn something so you can one day become more than a casual fan, but at least with here I could see what they may have been trying to upgrade.

I did not see the hole in Kayte's game though. She was the smartest person on every telecast she was on, but she could also sell it with personality, and yes, looks. Demoting her from analyst down to sideline reporter was insulting and a waste. Firing her entirely was plain stupid.

I'm a big Kayte fan. I know she's mostly known for her TV work, but I really liked her post-game breakdowns on the radio, too. Everyone I knew that watched league pass games was a fan of hers, even those fans of different teams. When she was replaced by Jim Gray there was a collective and painful groan from the NBA-watching world of the internet.
