JWill in the Glory Days

Not sure if this should be posted in this area or the NBA forum. If not, feel free to move it.

When the Kings turned things around back in 1999, Jason Williams was my favorite player because of the style he brought to Arco Arena. The no-look passes he made, his unbelievable and flashy dribbling and those long range bombs from 3-point land made him a fun player to watch for me.

I was shocked and saddened to learn he was traded for Mike Bibby. Back then it was for the good of the team as Bibby helped the Kings make it to the Western Conference Finals.

I just thought I'd share this video looking back at the glory days of JWill with the Kings. Some footage included Williams shaking Gary Payton in his gym, Williams taking it to the Spurs defense, Williams hitting an outside jumper on Bibby and more.

The video comes with a song called 'Why' by the Roots. Enjoy.

I became a kings fan in 1998 because of the "BIG THREE ". J will was one of the most exciting players to watch in the nba .

jwill had the best handles of any recent king.... i remember a pass he made off of his elbow to a player cuttin towards the rim, that was just :eek:

also i miss that webber too :(

At first I was sad that JWill was traded but when I found out it was for Bibby because I used to follow him when he played in college for Arizona. I liked JWill but sometimes he was to reckless. Bibby was a better overall player at the time and still is. Even though JWill i shaving a pretty good year right now in Miami but I think it has more to do with having D Wade and Shaq on the same team. They command so much attention.

I agree, I think it was JWill's poor decision making as a PG that got him traded... but man-alive was he fun to watch...

JWill brought a lot of energy to that young Kings team. I really miss his style of play. Even though he threw away a lot of games for us, he was definately fun to watch. I even enjoyed many of the games we lost. It was about the excitement for me.

Very exciting stuff. I had forgotten about some of those highlights. J-Will really did a lot to put us on the map.

But I don't miss him as a player at all. He was one of the dumbest basketball players in history -- stupid turnovers, ridiculous shots, etc. A fancy pass does not make up for a 30 foot brick or a behind the back pass into the bleachers. J-Will for Bibby was a STEAL.

Awesome...just awesome.

I was sad to realize that we don't have anyone running the floor and making solid cuts to the basket for that type of passing anymore. How many alley-oops were in that clip? How often do we see them now? Ugh...

Don't forget Bonzi trying to set up Peja for Alley oop :) That was the fuunniest moment of this sad season so far :)

Those were some awesome plays. If only Webber could still move like that.

Bibby was getting worked on the defensive end even back then. lol

That was filthy!! Dude was off the charts. I hate looking at those highlights because it reminds me of what was.:(

The 3/4 court pass to Tarik Abdul-Wahad is the pass i will always remember the most.

Wow....forgot all about that one! That was one of my JWill favorites. I still remember his debut in the Kings first exhibition game. We fans were sitting there going, "who is this guy?? is he really ours?". Now if only JWill had added consistency to his fancy moves, oh what could of been.

I Thank That Guy.... When Jordan Retired I Didnt Know What To Do As A Basketball Fan.. Then I Saw Jwill And You Guys Know The Rest

I loved that song that was played with the video. It was a good fit for it. I've seen it several times and I get mixed emotions watching it. It makes me feel good to see those great plays, passes, etc., but it makes me sad to see those days are long gone and may never come back. I'll still be a Kings fan no matter how many games we lose, but I sure hope we can get another exciting team like we did in 1999.

Yeah I really miss that team... The recklessness of JWill... We need that now IMO... those guys played with heart and intensity and furiosity(spelling?) I guess and these guys don't. We need an exciting team again. This makes me sad...
