Justin Williams

Has anyone heard the latest on Justin Williams? We could really use his rebounding and his defensive presence down low.

Any info would be appreciated.

This is the latest that "Yahoo!" has on their page.

Nov 2 Team spokesman Troy Hanson said Williams has been given an indefinite leave of absence while he is being investigated on charges of sexual assault.
Advice: Williams' attorney claims Williams and his girlfriend had consensual sex with the female accuser. It's uncertain when he could return to the court.

Seems they were a bit late in posting this mess.

What upsets me about him not bein on the floor is I KNOW that JW would be getting the majority of the PF minutes... Don't think we woul be a better team with him out there, but I bet we would be funner to watch. Let's hope he's back soon.

Thats why when you're on the finge of the NBA you don't throw big house parties a week before the season starts. Reguardless if hes innocent or not, he put himself in a dumb a** situation. He's the least of our problems imo.

If people can keep this about Justin's game and how his presence would change what's happening on the court, the thread can remain open. Comments about the charges, what led to them, etc. are going to be deleted, however, as there is still absolutely nothing new to report.

Thanks, all, for understanding...

Last week, Justin's lawyer said that he hoped that the matter would be disposed of in time for him to play in tonight's game. We do know that the police investigation was concluded late last week, and everything passed over to the DA on Friday. I don't know how long they usually spend mulling things over in criminal cases, but I'm assuming that Justin hasn't been in on any practices over the last 2-3 weeks, and even if they drop it today, I'm doubting that Reggie would try to play him tonight.

So, as welcome as his 16.5 boards and 2.3 blocks per 48 would be right about now, I'm thinking it'll be at least another game or two before we see him on the court again. I'm keeping pretty close tabs on the situation, and will update when there's anything to be added.

ahh excellent. The bright side of getting JW back is that we get to see him play in extended minutes and see what he can do.

We all saw him late last year when he was getting some double doubles, and blocking/altering some shots. But that was against a lot of 2nd tier players.... Let's see what he can do against starters!

Keep us updated, great info! I Was wondering myself.. I am curious how long the DA will have the case.

WOW! its nice seeing sometime put effort forward to get a rebound! I hope Theus continues to give Watkins more minutes because it what will be an ugly season for kings fans, the transition from Miller, K9 N SAR, to Hawes, JWill and Watkins could be fun to watch them grow. Im very optomistic bout this new trio!!

GO KINGS....GO YOUTH!!!

Are we even sure we'll get him back? It could be that he's guilty and will not be back at all. I think we have to account for that possibility.

Personally, I could live without this guy after this. I wasn't that impressed with him in pre-season. He reminds me too much of Samuel Dalembert in Philly.

Take away the contract and I like Daly.

Too skinny and not very smart. Sam would have as many goal tends as blocks. And that was his only defense. He's too skinny to hold a defensive position against most centers.

That's how Justin looks to me.

Besides, we have enough character issues with Artest already.

We could really use him, but this is one of those issues that is larger than basketball. Wanting him back or not entirely depends on whether he has been wrongfully accused, or whether we are talking about a guy who committed a rather nasty felony. Best to sit on the sidelines on this one until we know which way it turns out legally.

I remember last year he would have moments where he would match up against starting frontcourt players. He didn't do too well if I remember correctly, but how could we have expected an undrafted rookie to do well against established starters? I think the key is phasing out KT and SAR and phasing in playing time for Watkins and Williams. As they get more playing time, especially against seasoned veterans, they will learn and develop their games.

Both Watkins and Williams have the size and athleticism that has eluded our frontcourt in Kingsland ever since our golden years. In a rebuild situation like we are in, it is important to develop all of our young talent, not just the ones we draft. If one or both of these guys can become a rebound juggernaught/defensive specialist off the bench for us in the future, then we will have done a good job.

The greatest part about this particular discussion is that Theus is "sticking to his guns" and playing everyone who gives him a consistent yet focused effort. If it weren't for him, we might not even have these guys, let alone be able to fathom them getting playing time.

KT only got 6 minutes against the Mavs. Can you imagine what his playing time would be if Williams was on the roster??? He wouldn't even sniff the court!

EXXXXXXXXXXXXXXCCEELLLLENNT!!!

And if he needs more minutes we could strip SAR and Moore too.

Or he had just blasted a pass into the post to a wide open King. In any case, this may be the last picture we will see that shows 4 Kings on the glass with barely an opponent in sight.

Bump. I don't live in Sacramento so I don't get any news out of there. Could somebody please enlighten those of us outside the confines of the golden state on the situation with Justin. Is his lawyer saying anything? Is the DA saying anything? Just wondering how close they are to a resolution or conviction or something. I just have a stron feeling that given what i have seen from Reggie so far. Justin would be getting major minutes and developing more and more each game right now. Not to mention Geoff would be getting some pressure to do something with one of the 3 lame PF we have now.

I haven't seen a thing. Believe me, if there was news on this front, somone would post it. ;)

Grant Napear said on his radio show a couple of times that Williams is through as a Kings player - guilty or innocent. The Kings organization may have been miffed about the timing of the mess.

We have said several times that we are not going to discuss the case until/unless something official is announced. For that reason, this thread is being locked. It will be reopened if/when that situation changes.
