Look, putting no stock in this rumor at all...

HOWEVER, it should be noted that J.R. could effectively end up as an ending contract. There are 2 years left, but the second year is a player option, and with his ego, and at his age, he could easily end up opting out to go test the market and try to get something longer while he still can.

If that happens it will seem like a good deal, especially that Stauskas and McLemore are probably 1 year away from being a solid contributor. He could fill that void at SG nicely for the moment.

I probably won't hesitate to take him if we're talking about talent alone. Take away his drama, JR Smith is one of the better SG out there behind the established superstars like Wade and Bryant. Lance Stephenson who I think at the same tier will get paid $9M per year. That makes JR Smith salary this coming season fair and well worth at $6M.

J.R. Smith:
-SG,
-decent shooter, effective slasher, decent defender and passer if motivated.

Height without Shoes - 6' 5.5"
Height with Shoes - 6' 6.75"

James Harden and Tyreke Evans:
Height without Shoes - 6' 4"
Height with Shoes - 6' 5.25"

If we can get a swap of J.R. Smith and Landry in a deal, that will surely look like a steal.
