I agree. I’m only hard on Fox because as this sheet shows he already opens up shots for his teammates. The problem is he doesn’t get them the ball in the right spots. If he plays the right way he could be great.

They say people are motivated by love of competition, fear of failure, or the desire for glory. Fox is clearly the latter. It’s our role as fans to give him glory when he plays the right way.

Fox is very bright. You combine that intelligence with the motivation to get better (e.g. study film and improve his game) and I really think he's going to be very good. There is soooooo much potential there. Even if he incorporates just a few new things in his game next year he's going to improve by quit a bit, and he'll improve the performance of everyone else as well. I just want him to get some direct instruction from some HOFer point guards, like a Nash or a Stockton. It's admirable that he's looking at CP3 film, but that is indirect and one has to make inferences on why CP3 does what, when and why. The Kings need to look into getting a legit point guard mentor for Fox to groom him appropriately.

Here is an example of what I’m talking about. The attached image shows Bogi’s shots and attempts with Fox on and off the court and overall.

You can see what Fox’s ability to collapse defenses does for Bogi’s shooting percentages. Bogi’s shooting percentages from the corner 3’s are a ridiculous 50% and 75% from the right and left corner 3 respectively. But the total attempts only increases .2 with Fox on the floor!! Instead you see Bogi’s mid range attempts go up where Fox penetrates, tries to shoot, can’t and dumps it to Bogi.

These numbers indicate pee poor point guard play. If someone shoots 75% from 3 when you are on the floor you damm well need to get him the ball in that spot... This specifically is where Fox has to improve. View attachment 7993

It’s doesn’t have anything to do with scoring or not. Steph is so great because he forces opposing defenses to adjust for him and he uses that to help get teammates like Klay shots where they can best succeed.

On the positive note, Foxes quickness can collapse defenses. For the team to be good he has to use that to get our very good 3 pt shooters open shots. Otherwise Fox May have good stats but the team will suffer. The question is will Fox play for the name on the front or back of the Jersey.

The Kings really need to start thinking big and out of their little Kings' box and start thinking of all time great point guards instead of good off-the-bench scoring point guards like Bobby Jackson. Where is the imagination? If you want to become great, how about being coached by someone that was great? Even if a Nash or Stockton or someone of their ilk could not work with Fox full time, how about part time? How about three or four times a year? Or during the summer? There's nothing wrong with getting an infusion of HOFer blood into the system.

P.S. Even though he's not a pg, I can see how Peja could give Fox some perspective on wings - how to set them up, where to get them the ball, etc. And he might also give a coach perspective on shooting the ball.

I guess he has no wisdom to impart besides that. Heaven knows he's not giving free throw tips. Fox is awesome. I am not the least bit concerned whether he gets the counsel of Nash Stockton or Oscar Robertson. It couldn't hurt but as long as he adds strength and muscle without sacrificing speed, which I can tell he already has, and plays in a uptempo system, he is going to be all-star.

This RIGHT here!! One of the things I hated about Jason Thompson and some of our other rookies is they never figured out that they needed to SLOW DOWN and let the game come to them. College ball is a bit more frenetic, fast paced, react off instinct and not thought/experience. That's why JT fouled so much, he never figured out the right anticipation of the game.

In the NBA you have to be patient but quick, probe but dont rush it. The fact Bagley understands that before his first ever game just from practices is amazing. I think David Robinson was correct about him. Game recognizes game. Bags is going to contribute right away and be a force for years. As long as he can get his strength were it needs to be without adding bulk and remains healthy dude will be top 5 at his position for years. Such a stud.

I mean, the hype of Harry Giles had been through the roof for a good few months. I'm hoping that we'll find out about him in the summer league because outside of some HS footage and his abysmal college season, we don't really know much about him at all.

True. But that's with any rookie. You don't know what you have until he steps on that court. Even with the players who played a full season of college. SL still may not be the best measure.

Well he did speak to Cousins a bit in the past, and I think we saw results when Rondo was here, particularly him getting deep position early and calling for the ball.

Oddly enough, Shaq was named the GM of the Kings new E-sports team ( Kings Guard Gaming ) back in April.
