This RIGHT here!! One of the things I hated about Jason Thompson and some of our other rookies is they never figured out that they needed to SLOW DOWN and let the game come to them. College ball is a bit more frenetic, fast paced, react off instinct and not thought/experience. That's why JT fouled so much, he never figured out the right anticipation of the game.
He has been studying young Paul who was beloved by his teammates in New Orleans....I would have preferred to see Fox say he has to do better at getting the ball to teammates where they need it to score.
Hearing he wants to emulate a point guard who is hated by most of his teammates is not encouraging.
Agree with this wholeheartedly, and I love ZBlow Smoke. But at this point ZBlow should be a change of pace big off the bench running pick and rolls with Mason and Bogie.Kinda hard to emulate Chris Paul and push the pace last year when you had Z-Bo dragging anchor and the entire half court offense revolved around Randolph isolations.
In order for Fox to shine and grow as a player this year Z-Bo better not be starting. Z-Bo does have some use as a bench scorer in small spurts when guys like Fox and Bogdan are off the court and there is nobody else to create offense.
If Fox is going to succeed and become a star though its time the organization and Joerger start actually putting him in a position to succeed.

Weren't the reports of teammates hating Paul overblown? IIRC, the main issue is that he's a real competitor, and expects the same from his teammates.
After a decade + of iffy effort from this team, I can dig Fox wanting to push himself and his teammates.
Of course, it remains to be seen whether or not he can actually back it up on the court.
Ummm, Lillard and Westbrook are IN THE PLAYOFFS each year. I fail to see a wrong mentality here. It's not like the Kings have ever won a championship in Sacramento.Yeah I could be wrong.
I just get a sense from Fox that it’s too much about “me” and not enough about the team. He talks about scoring at all three levels versus doing a better job of finding teammates..... if he were our starting 2 Guard it would be less of a problem... I guess playing with Bogi it’s fine but I hear a lot of Russ and Lillard in him and it’s not winning basketball.
Perhaps I’m wrong. I hope so.
If Lillard and or Russ had KD, Klay and Draymond your argument would hold ZERO water.Yeah I could be wrong.

Oh wait. Russ had KD and Harden and drove them off because he never passes the ball until he’s sure he can’t score.
crapty basketball.
“At my house it was set up where I had a TV on the floor and then a TV above it,” Fox says. “I’d sit on the couch and have a laptop and iPad. The TV, honestly, you probably couldn’t hear the volume all the time, because if there’s a game on, I don’t need to hear it. I could just watch it. I could have that on and be playing a video game [on the screen below it], and then [on the laptop and iPad] watching the show that I want or be on YouTube. I don’t know how I do it but I can literally process all of it. I’ve gotten so used to it that it’s normal now. I do feel like multitasking off the court does translate to doing things on the court. As a point guard, you basically have to remember five positions. You gotta see everything. If you’re a point guard and can’t process stuff quickly, it’s going to be tough for you. I do feel that helped me to be able to process more than one thing at a time.”

I thing some might be fretting too much about Fox setting up team mates.
The one thing I can't hate on him is his ability to QB the game at his stature.I would have preferred to see Fox say he has to do better at getting the ball to teammates where they need it to score.
Hearing he wants to emulate a point guard who is hated by most of his teammates is not encouraging.
Fox is definitely score first at this point in his career. He'll probably always be score first, honestly, but that isn't so bad in today's NBA.
And unlike a guy like Westbrook, who is unapologetic in his stat chasing, Fox seems fairly self aware. I'm pretty sure he's mentioned improving his play making multiple times.
Now, it's one thing to talk about it, and it's another thing to be about it, but at least Fox recognizes playmaking as a weakness of his.
It'll be interesting to see how he's developed as a player in year 2.
Oh geez people. We seem to be working awefully hard to criticize a young player who has lofty ambitions about trying to learn from and emulate one of the greatest point guards of all time.Don't worry about being Chris Paul be DeAron Fox and play to his strengths and improve on his own weaknesses, he will never remotely even be a similar player to CP3 dude is a athletic freak who needs to play to that.
I pray this is not another WCS wanting to be Porzingis situation players just need to be themselves and work hard.

So that's going to make him a brilliant PG? Multitasking around the house on social media? I will bet my mortgage he will never be as good as CP3. I can see improvement happening. But, that comparison he made to basketball is not even linear.
CP3 is easily gonna be a HOF'er, he's sustained excellence for over a decade now, and still going strong. This is great news. That would be a relatively safe bet because even though I disagree with the notion I've heard multiple writers, bloggers, journalists, and media personalities refer to CP3 as a future hall-of-famer. If Fox is even close, it will be a great time for Kings fans. What does a career look like that is just outside of the Hall of Fame for point guard? Tim Hardaway? Gary Payton? Mike Bibby? Penny Hardaway? I take any of those as aspirations for Fox
Here is an example of what I’m talking about. The attached image shows Bogi’s shots and attempts with Fox on and off the court and overall.
You can see what Fox’s ability to collapse defenses does for Bogi’s shooting percentages. Bogi’s shooting percentages from the corner 3’s are a ridiculous 50% and 75% from the right and left corner 3 respectively. But the total attempts only increases .2 with Fox on the floor!! Instead you see Bogi’s mid range attempts go up where Fox penetrates, tries to shoot, can’t and dumps it to Bogi.
These numbers indicate pee poor point guard play. If someone shoots 75% from 3 when you are on the floor you damm well need to get him the ball in that spot... This specifically is where Fox has to improve. View attachment 7993
This is an educational stat sheet. It shows both the need for improvement, but also it shows the incredible potential as well. With Fox collapsing the D, Bogs has many more wide open opportunities, but he's not getting enough of them. It also makes sense to me that Bogs gets less opportunities in the right corner because Fox is left hand dominant at this point in his career. Many times he will come up the floor on the left side and not make the cross court pass. These are things that can be corrected. It shouldn't be all that difficult to change this pattern and with coaching and study it can be corrected fairly quickly, imo.
