The Game Thread Dude
Dude has missed more games than Zion since coming to Portland.Reports were POR has been asking for an unprotected FRP. Would you pay that tag for him?

Are we really going to pretend that a guy who can't get playing time with the Spurs was going to be part of our future?

No, I haven't watched a game all year.have you seen our forward depth?
Zach Harper at The Athletic is confused why we did this. (Link)
Goes on to suggest several options, including that we were playing keep-Jonas-away-from-the-Lakers. Even so, gives the trade a B. But the "I haven't watched a Kings game since 2004" vibe is pretty strong here.
Nope. Like I said I don’t have a clear alternative but a B is likely a fair grade
We're making progress.sactowndog giving anything Monte did a "B"?!!
This is huge people!!!

Wait let me get this straight you were against this specific trade with these specific players? I just want to get you on record. Yes or no would you have done this exact trade if it was presented to you and you were GM.I would love to see someone who can defend but I get we needed scoring off the bench and less Domas minutes. We may have to score 150 to win a game.
Jonas is 32 and about to turn 33. Do I want to give up 2 seconds and a young wing prospect for a 2 year rental on an old defensively challenged big?
I can probably be a better big man than Len. And I'm not even tall enough to be a point guard.
No reason we can't get those 2nd round picks back at the trade deadline next year or the year after if we want.Hell yeah. Thats a dang solid deal. Movable too if teams come calling down the road.
Not very goodAny national team viewers on what they looked like together on the court? Especially with the new Domas 3?
Yes, because he’s a starting quality center on a good contract and directly addresses a weakness you have, and you didn’t give up anyone in your rotation to get him.I would love to see someone who can defend but I get we needed scoring off the bench and less Domas minutes. We may have to score 150 to win a game.

From what I saw of them in Eurobasket when they played Bosnia, it was a weird fit to me.Any national team viewers on what they looked like together on the court? Especially with the new Domas 3?
I don't see them spending much time together except for against certain big lineups. Otherwise, I think the hope would be we get 15 min out of JV so we can get Domas' minutes down. Not very good
JVal was eating but Domas odd man , team looked better when one of them sat.To be fair that was before Domas was considered as capable 3 point shooter

I feel like part of it was that Lithuania had pretty much no NBA level talent on its team aside from those two when they were playing them together. It’ll be interesting to see how they look now with Matas and Kasparas as lottery pick level talents in consecutive years. Not very good

Nope. Like I said I don’t have a clear alternative but a B is likely a fair grade. My real answer is more why did we release Nemi?
Probably a better option than asking DeMar to guard Julius Randle again.Yeah, I'm not expecting it to be like a normal set or anything, but I figure you might be able to test the waters there from time to time. Especially with higher quality players around them here than with the national team. Jval's not a great shooter, but he can actually do it, which matters
Because Mike Brown. The answer is Mike Brown. The answer why we did probably not consider Ware or any other big person in the draft is Mike Brown.Nope. Like I said I don’t have a clear alternative but a B is likely a fair grade. My real answer is more why did we release Nemi?

Mike Brown doesn’t make roster decisions. The GM does.Because Mike Brown. The answer is Mike Brown. The answer why we did probably not consider Ware or any other big person in the draft is Mike Brown.
And Monte didn't blow his TPE. The MLE and TPE are still on the table for next season.
But that is also part of what the Kings needed: a legit physical presence that would cross the line when necessary. JV can be a thug, lets not mince words, but this team needs a little more backbone. I for one cherish the idea of watching him play against Dramon for a bit.I now forgive him for that cheap shot on Metu
JVal is definitely slow, to make him most effective in his 15-18 minutes Kings would probably should things down, otherwise his biggest advantages ( pick and roll, offensive rebounding, back to the basket game) will not be taken advantage off.maybe Doug will change his substitution patern with Zach on a team.Call me a hater but if you thought Len looked slow and immobile on defense, just watch Valanciunus ... As I've said I don't think a post up big guy is what the Kings need off the bench, considering their offense runs through DeRozan when bench is in. Pretty much the whole team thrives in a running style too, so how Valanciunus fits at a higher pace is extremely questionable. Kings don't need more scoring; they literally have (4) 20 point scorers already. We'll see how it all fits
The GM doesn't assign minutes in the game. And they just re-upped Brown's contract.Mike Brown doesn’t make roster decisions. The GM does.
