" As ESPN.com reported Thursday night, Denver would then use at least one of those future first-round picks to package with Murphy -- either in this trade or in a separate deal -- to a third team yet to be determined."

borrow our capspace to get another 1st round pick?

For Troy Murphy? The two teams are basically looking for a dumpster to unload contracts and take a 1st round pick to give to Denver. I don't see any feasible way it would benefit the Kings, as much as Brick loves Troy Murphy.

I saw this quote and I thought the same thing.

Of course it all comes down to whether the Maloofs want to spend money or not. There always seems to be at least one team willing to sell their 1st round pick on draft day, but we know that Petrie never makes those sort of moves.

Murphy is an expiring and I don't really want him on this team and he's owd 12 million for the season which means he'd cost the Maloofs about 5 million for that 1st round pick.

If I recall the going rate for a pick in the 18-25 range is typically around 3 million dollars when moves are made on draft day.

So it would depend on where that pick is slated, but if it's slated to be under the 20th pick, I might consider it, or try to hold out for a 1st and a 2nd round pick.

Fredette, Hamilton, Knight, & Taylor are all slotted to be in the 15-20 range and all four of those guys could make a difference for this team next year.

I don't see it happening, but I would like to see it happen provided that Murphy doesn't get big minutes for the latter half of the season.

One other thing.

It's my understanding that Denver wants to move Murphy to avoid the Luxury tax, so if you got Denver to send over a 1st round pick & cash to the Maloofs to take on Murphy's contract then I'd do that in a heartbeat. Denver would avoid the luxury tax and the Kings would get the 1st round pick & some cash to offset Murphy's large contract.
You have to remember that by staying under the luxury tax not only does Denver not pay dollar for dollar penalties, they also get a cut of the money at the end of the season.

most of the time, the team looking for a 3rd team to take on a contract will be sending cash considerations along w/ a pick or something
