Johnny Flynn Diary

yea the guys a natrual leader, he's quick which would fit into what we want, an uptempo offense, its a real toss up at 4 flynn rubio jrue, i'll be happy with any of the 3

I think flynn would be the wrong pick for us. It certainly would not help on the defensive end.

He has the tools to be a good defensive player. He is fast, strong and atheletic. He also plays with energy and has the desire to win. These are all the things that you need to be a good defender.

He's longer and stronger than Chris Paul. Personally I think Paul is very overrated as a defender, but he's an acceptable defender by most standards. Now, I'm not saying he's got what it takes to be the ball thief that Paul is, but the tools are similar if not better.

agreed, Lawson and him maybe short by NBA stadards, but dudes are built like tanks.

The Kings were looking for a big PG. Flynn is just too small to guard the average NBA PG or provide help when switching off a screen.

Source?

The median PG candidate we've been working out is about 6'2", so I'm just... curious about that statement.

EDIT: Dang, I should stop taking so long to compose my posts...

Petrie was rumored to like Aaron brooks........Kings have Johnny Flynn and Patrick Mills coming in.

Daren Collison worked out.

I disagree with this statement. Flynn will likely be listed at 6'1 in the NBA, which makes him plenty big enough for the position. I am always hearing that PGs are getting bigger and bigger, but aways fail to see it when I watch games. Out of curiosity, I looked up the height (as listed on NBA.com) for every starting PG in the NBA last season. This was the result:

6' - 6 pgs
6'1 - 6 pgs
6'2 - 4 pgs
6'3 - 13 pgs
6'4 - 1 pg

Pretty much all the starting PGs in the NBA are 6'3 or less except for Jason Kidd. That puts Flynn solidly in the middle of the pack from what I can see.

So if Rubio is as tall as advertised, he becomes one of the tallest PGs in the league. And he's only 18 and could still add height.

I'm not so sure they will list him at 6'1" and how is 6'1"middle of the pack in your list? I'm more worried that teams will switch their SG on him and easily shoot over him.

I don't know about that. I read that Flynn has excellent lateral footspeed. He could really be good on defense. In college, they played a zone, so that talent may not have been very evident.
