You know who else had contentious relationships with the coaching staff? Cousins. At some point, you have to pick a side and maintain some stability. Catering to players who don't know how to win vs a coach who does is kind of why we've not seen the playoffs in 13 years. Just think what might have happened if this team kept Malone and dealt Cousins. Well, I can watch the Nuggets and find out.

Harry rarely had them, he was subpar. Dude needs to better his athleticism and defense by a lot starting next season. WCS motor would have failed him under anyone. Bagley was developing off the bench, and would’ve been a tough fit this year with the starters. Barnes is arguably a stretch 4

Out of all coaches hired in the Sacramento era, two out of nineteen have been undeniably good (though we fired them, too). You're arguing that Joerger is not very good, but I'm not even talking about that. I'm concerned that he's still well above average for one of our hires, and that there are many worse people we can hire.

Even if the argument is Dave took over a successful team and kept it going, that's still better than what other coaches have done with the same players. And it isn't like Dave wasn't coaching older and injured guys too. Its not like that core fell off a cliff either.

Z-Bo and Tony Allen both left two years ago, the same year where Gasol and Conley both suffered season ending injuries early into things, and this season the only left over from grit'n'grind is Mike Conley who got rested for most of 2019 anyways. Nice try though.

But it's increasingly looking like Joerger may have lost the locker room worse than we thought he did and we certainly aren't gonna value him over the guys in that locker room sooooo

That strategy resulted in the mess that was Cousins's career here. A revolving door as a coach, learning new systems, with a cornerstone all star didn't help this team win.

The kings had a pretty good first half and a mess of a second half with a couple of historic collapses. Dave Joerger holds a lot of the blame for why he got fired today. And we don’t even know what our young guys thought of him. Maybe Vlade had no choice.

Paul Westphal once coached the Suns into the finals. He was possibly the worst coach this franchise has ever seen this side of Bill Russell, who was also a guy who coached a bunch of finals teams.

The NBA operates in a bubble. I'm not defending everything Dave has done, because I've been very critical of some of his decisions. I'm criticizing the timing of this move, along with the alternatives. Who is going to come in here with this team at this stage of development that is going to be better? If they can find that guy, then fine. But considering this franchise's inability to do so during the Cousins era, I just am sick of the lack of stability in the chair.

His counting stats are better in Dallas, but that was the worst stop in his career and the only location he played primarily the 4.

Yes we have a history of dysfunction as does Joerger being a stubborn stubborn man.

The only reason Joerger was available was that he was such a pain in the ass to work with that the Grizzlies literally didn't want him anymore. It would appear the same thing has happened here with the Kings.

Please answer the original issue: if what Dave has done in Memphis and here doesn't qualify him as being described as a proven winning coach, then what would qualify an NBA coach for that description?

The Athletic article shines a light on what our core (Bagley, Fox, Hield) thought of Joerger. They were not exactly endorsements. That’s when I saw the writing on the wall.

All I know is I’m glad there is decisiveness in all of this. Now if Vlad doesn’t have a plan and doesn’t lock in on a coach soon at the latest by the time the playoffs are done, it will tell me he has no clue. He fired since he didn’t want to commit to a Joerger, but if he knew this would happen he better have talked to candidates and have someone in line.
