Anyone catch that on the news??? I was watching the plane from my patio for about an hour and then finally saw the landing on the news. The pilot did an amazing job and the front landing gear actually held up. (wheels were rotated 90 degrees). Congrats to the pilots and thank God everyone was safe.

What happened? All I heard that there was a plane going to L.A. or stopped in Los Angeles whichever, and had to land safely. Also I heard something was wrong with the gears???

the front landing gear was turned 90 degrees so the plane had to burn all its fuel in case the sparks from the landing gear didn't ignite any fuel because they had to land the plane like that and when they did the pilot did an excellent job and the front landing structure held up and the tires blew off but the plane landed safely and everyone got off the plane which happened to land in LAX but was initially supposed to land in Long Beach where I was watching the plane circle the airport.

I caught most of it at the gym tonight, and rushed home just in time to see it land safely. I was cheering a bit watching that baby come to a stop.

I had been tuned in to CNN for it, too - it was incredible.

For those who didn't catch it, I hope this might help: I believe the flight departed from Burbank and was headed to JFK, but shortly after takeoff, they found out about the problem with the front wheels. That's when they decided to emergency land - first option was Long Beach, where I believe jetBlue is based, but it was a better decision to go on to LAX because the runway was longer and wider. The plane circled above LAX for I think over 3 hours or so - after jettisoning some amount of fuel to keep the plane light and more controllable for landing and also to lessen risk of it blowing up I think. Emergency crews (firefighters, rescue people) were ready at LAX but luckily they didn't have to face a disaster.

I applaud the captain and his crew - the landing was amazing and I'm so happy that everything turned out well. I heard one of the aviation officials said it was the best job anyone could've done at that situation. I couldn't help cheering. It was great.

that's why it circled for 3 hours before it landed. I thought they needed some time if there were any other alternatives.

All those flight attendants were watching it's action on real TV in the plane as it was landing. Not sure if I had a guts to see that. Props to pilots. If you noticed they kept the front gear up in air as much as they could after the back gears touched the ground.

they said when these things happen with the front landing gear, its almost sure that no one will get hurt, and fires usually don't occur either. must have been scary watching that on t.v. while on the plane.........I totally forgot jet blue has t.v.'s

I heard one of the passengers on the plane last night said that the landing was the best, smoothest one she ever had. :D Great job by the pilot.
