Jason Hart: New King

Yes, but unless you plan to redesign ALL of Kings offense, you need big men midrange jumper and as much outside shooting as you can get for our type of offense. Just remember how frustrating it was some time ago when Christie would hesitate with some of his jump shots - and he was still an OK shooter.

exactly.... unless we totally change the offense that they run then the lack of outside shooting is going to kill us when bonzi or hart is wide open, then clanks a 3.... if peja or bibby misses that we are all shocked because it should have gone in. but they are supposed to miss it and that will suck....

and what about the playoffs.... we'll only have bibby as our only reliable 3pt shooter.... hart, bonzi, cisco and martin will be left wide open because no one will care if they shoot the ball.... no one is going to have to leave them open 15 ft away because it only takes 1 6'6 swingman to shut peja down....

i like the trades but damn....

some scoring in the post would be nice too, thats probably my major beef with having a bench full of mid range shooters.... thats what our bigs do, shoot mid range jumpers.... whos going to rebound? whos in position to rebound if everyone is setting up to shoot 15 footers....

Bonzi is an excellent inside player. That is the strongest part of his game so I don't think our need in the post is AS strong as it once was. Still there though.

Considering the circumstances this is a terrific pick up for us. We get a tallish PG who is a very good defender and tkaes care of the ball, as well as being capable of nailing the open jumper when the oppostunity presents itself.

Hart can also swing over to SG if needed to do a defensive job. I do like this move a lot considering we practically gave away nothing for him.

I think Petrie has done excellent job so far. He got us a starting SG who is an upgrade on Cuttino for Ostertag and well past his prime Bobby Jackson. Thats a tick. We get a good back up PG for a 2nd rounder, so thats another tick. We still manage to keep our tradeable pieces and keep our MLE.

So far Petrie has done his job well. Now for a PF/C :)

Since the team is already over the cap, it doesn't matter in that regard. As far as getting closer to luxery tax land, it is a different story.

On another note, as already mentioned it took some of the trade exemptions the team had available. Those exemptions (at least part of it) came from the "flexibility" the team received from making last years trades.

33% isn't all that bad at threes, you guys....
Irrelavant stat baased on insufficent sample size. You would hardly be impressed by a player that was 100% for 3 pointer if he only took one shot. Case in point is the deceptive high percentage that Kurt Rambus shot in post season play (at one time he held the record for highest percentage shooting in the post season) His numbers were high not beceause he was a deadly sharp shooter but beceause he almost NEVER shot the ball and only did when he was compleetly ungaurded under the hoop.

If it is irrelevant, tell that to the guys saying he cannot shoot the 3 as well.

Point is, it is the only stat we have, and it is what we have to go on. It isn't like he only took 5 shots from the 3 for his career. He was 35 for 95 last year. I think that is a large enough sample size for a decent approximation of his 3-pt shooting skill.

Not shure I agree that 95 shots is a good sample size but my main point was that from waht I saw of his play an awfull lot of them were uncontested. Time will tell. Check my other posts and you will see that I am not down on Heart but having watched him a lot in college and some in the NBA I don't think his strong suit is scoreing from the out side.

I never said it was his strong point, but 33% ain't as bad as everyone is insinuating. We'll see what he does when he gets here. Who knows, maybe he'll have a knack for finding uncontested 3s here as well. Maybe he'll improve his % as well with practice and PT....

I have a feeling this is the only time I will hear the use of Kurt Rambis' NBA career in order to prove a point :)

I love the absured and obscure and it's harder to get more absurd than Kurt Rambis and more obscure than his NBA record for post season shooting percentage.

Nice pick-up, anyone that has been through Pops system down in Spurs land i'll take, this guys a good defender, and can distribute the ball, good role player.

It's an intricate symptom of the disease of being a FAN ... some of us just can't help ourselves.

The sad this is ... THERE IS NO HELP

I've looked ... I can't find "Nicknames Annonymous"
