Because I'm sincerely concerned about the emotional and psychological welfare of my fellow Kings fans, especially after the way our team was used to mop the floor of our own Arco Arena last night, I'm thinking about starting a nostalgic trend. After every loss, I'm going to find a win from the glory days that took place on or around the same date, and post the results and a recap. That way, we [hopefully] don't get so collectively depressed around here. (And yes, I understand that I'll have to do this another 40 times this season.)
Especially considering that this is the season that we as Kings fans are going to be taking a trip down memory lane on two separate occasions to retire the jerseys of two of the most important players in our team's history, we might as well embrace the past, because the present is incredibly dreadful. It seems like it was a long time ago, but we used to be really good.
Without further ado, on this day in Kings fans history:
CNNSI.com - January 13, 2002: Phoenix 100, @ Sacramento 103
Other Jan 13 wins in Kings history:
01/13/01 - Kings, 84 @ Rockets, 81

Not even a week's break could cool off Chris Webber.
Webber had 28 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists as the Sacramento Kings defeated the Phoenix Suns, 103-100, for their eighth straight victory, matching their longest winning streak since moving from Cincinnati prior to the 1972-73 season.
Peja Stojakovic added 25 points and eight rebounds for Sacramento, which had not played since beating Milwaukee last Sunday, when Webber had a triple-double with 28 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists.
...
"They have a good combination together," Rogers said, referring to Webber and Stojakovic. "When both of them have it going good, it's really tough to stop them. The plays that they run, they execute them well, and it's tough to stop both of them."
Sacramento made 30-of-35 free throws, while Phoenix converted just 11-of-17.
