James Johnson

We didn't sign him, we traded for him. He's on the final year of his rookie contract.

Well that's good that he will be out of here after this year. What a worthless season he had. Who did we give up for him? He played for the Raptors, correct?

i haven't been too enamored with james johnson since he decided to debut those godawful cornrows...

I would get mad at him, but this could be just a pure intelligence issue. maybe he truly didn't understand outside reaction to that - at least I hope this is the case, and not just a low class buffoon rubbing salt into the wounds of the community

he's a tub of lard now anyway

I guess I'm in the minority but I really don't care if Johnson wore a Sonics hat in the lockerroom. He has no ties to Sacramento, he was acquired through a low-level trade and he's never going to be more than a role player - provided he even has a future in the NBA.

Some Kings fans really need to get over this kind of stuff. Spencer Hawes was one thing - we drafted him, we (or at least some of us) liked him and cheered for him, etc. His comment was stupid and deserved the response he got. Johnson is a non-factor. Why waste the energy worrying about his views?

What's next? We hate a player because he says he drove through Seattle once and it's a nice city?

Should be suspended without pay for the rest of the season for conduct detrimental to the team. I know I would do it if I was GP or coach Dumb but the difference between me and them is that I have the proverbial to do that.

On the other hand, those 2 are too busy sucking up and trying to keep a low profile in this so they can suck up to the new ownership group to keep their job regardless of who that is.

This was worse than Hawes for me.

I'm sorry but he's a current, paid player of the SACRAMENTO Kings. His team and city are going and playing through perhaps the final few games of the Sacramento era and this fool decides to put on SEATTLE Sonics gear where, oh btw, they could be moving.

I'm not sure if he thought he was funny or he's just stupid. But I never want to see him on the floor for us again. We don't need any players, especially worthless ones pulling this crap at any point during this battle for our team.

I agree w/kingsnation. This is far worse because he's a current player. As for the Hawes situation, he voiced an opinion that is more than logical given his Seattle roots. He has every right and every motive to do so. We voiced our displeasure at his feelings on the issue. As far as I'm concerned, both Hawes and Sac fans did exactly what they're supposed to in these situations. However, JJ is betraying his current city. Hawes was only being loyal to his home and college city. BIG difference.

This was a dumb, bone headed thing for a player to do but I don't think this group has a very good perspective on the situation. By wearing the hat King's fans assume that he hoped that Seattle was getting their beloved franchise and that Seattle was a better city the Sacramento. I don't think that was it at all. He doesn't work for the fans (at least they don't sign his pay checks) and so I think he was saying that he was happy to play for the new boss. This is also a player that feels that he is an offensive player and should be getting shots and be a part of the offense (so he isn't all that bright) and from that perspective he has to be unhappy (who isn't) with the current management.

Again, a stupid thing to do but not malicious or spiteful.

Yeah thats why I thought it could be an intelligence situation. It may be that he was under the impression that the franchise was 100% sold to Seattle already, and was trying to show support for new ownership/management as his position in the NBA is marginal at best, whatever. Either way, its hard to imagine he got through college if this is the case.

I really don't understand you. You were all bent out of shape over Spencer Hawes who was honest about his desire to see an NBA team return to his home town. It was probably not the right thing to say, but at least he was being honest and there was some sense to why he said it. James Johnson on the other hand, who has done virtually nothing positive for our team this year, parades around with a Sonics hat on and you think it's no big deal? I'm sure he is well aware of how sensitive this issue is for Kings fans and probably even some current players who have longer contracts with the Kings who have homes here, kids in schools, etc.

He was totally out of line and the Kings "brass" did the right thing by having him remove it. Good riddance to this guy. What a complete waste he was for us this year.

he just ruined that buzzer beating 3 he hit which up till now was my main memory associated with him. Why would you do something so stupid. It seriously rubs my the wrong way. Intelligence is definitely an issue

My problem with him wearing the hat is, that James Johnson knows how much we love the Kings and want them to stay in Sac…Maybe it’s an intelligence issue like some members said, but it’s totally disrespectful for him to wear that in our locker room…idk, maybe he was trying to be funny, or there was something else in his mind. But I think his move was a little disrespectful to us.
