i have a buddy who's ex was like that. he couldn't even glance at another female or she'd be all over him.

Yes there is a lot of senseless humor, and silly stupid humor, and that's part of the fun. But, all in all when Howard does an interview there isn't anyone better.
He pushes people to a place no one else is willing to push them, because of being worried about being fined.
He's gotten many people to answer questions they'd never DREAM of answering anywhere else, or in public for that matter. It makes for interesting radio. He, also interviews controversial figures, which also makes for interesting radio. Like him or not he's one of the best that's ever been, and even better now without being censored on SIRIUS.
If any of you consider the show an insult to your intelligence, you:
A) Don't know how to relax and have fun
B) Don't know what is interesting to the masses. Either that or you don't want to admit in public that you found some of the interviews interesting or funny.
Whoops, almost forgot where I was at for a minute. Ultra-conservativeville. And, I don't mean your political beliefs necessarily, so you don't have to clarify your political views to me.
I heard the interview with Doug by the way, and found it absolutely hilarious that Jackie cried over his Dougs answer, and that Howard even asked the question. That's pure entertainment, especially being a Kings fan and having heard about their antics often while he was in Sac. And to clarify, Jackie didn't cry because of Howard. She cried because of Dougs' answer.
Anyway, love Howard or hate him, he gets a reaction out of you one way or the other. That's his job and he does it well.

Whoops, you obviously forgot something else. People are entitled to their opinions. You like him. Good for you. A LOT of people don't. And we show it by not tuning in...
As far as your comments and assumptions above, they don't bear close scrunity. Stern's numbers are way down and it's pretty obvious to industry people that while some like you may be willing to pay to listen to him, a good number just don't find him that compelling.

agreed....I really do not see or hear of Howard much now that he has gone to satellite. However, I wish he had prime time interview shows. He gets to the honest answers better than anyone. It actually bothers me to see someone like Barbara Walters do an interview with one sofball question after another.

Whoa....you are way too into the guy and his show with that diatribe. It's just a show, and no one is required to like it, so relax.
Or, maybe, you just need to consider that there are a lot of folks like me who don't watch "reality" shows, can't stand inane sexist or racist blatherings that double as "quality" radio programming, or see the appeal in shows that fawn over todays movie stars or recording artists.
I am a fun guy. I have a good sense of humor and get along well with most everyone. Heck, I like watching COPS on occasion to see stupid folks getting beat up.
But I can't stand HS or any of his ilk. It is truly an insult to my intelligence, based on the limited (but sufficient for my judgement) exposure to his show.It's my opinion. No matter how much you worship at his feet and praise his virtues, I am not going to tune in. Sorry.

LOL, i found this to be quite amusing.
Awesomely whipped. Poor guy, whoever said that about the bossy mother - wife connection, that sounds right. "Being called whipped or soft and henpecked and all of that stuff, it only bothers me when it bothers my wife.." pretty much says it all.
As far as Stern being a meanie or whatever, the Christie's were trying to promote their silly TV show by being on the radio and knew what they were getting into. Boo-hoo, Howard asked a manipulative question and got a response.
I never want to watch the Christie show, I'd rather remember Doug the player, I liked that Doug. Its sad to see him in that hat on the ads.

Howard was whipped in his marriage as well, even when he started making big bucks. He pretty much admits that he was stunned for years because an attractive girl married him at that stage in his life (poor, ugly, shy). Now he's got the upper hand w/ a much younger girl who is in no position to demand anything out of him. Interesting how the tides have turned. Not saying Doug's situation is similar to Stern's, but if he ever were to get divorced, I bet he also finds someone markedly different than Jackie.

Stern eventually did do the showbiz trade-in for a newer model and buy her out, Doug never will and will shill fashion hats and let his wife show off how good she has him wrapped around her finger on TV. Just kidding, it's really not unusual for one partner to sort of follow another and I'm sure most of us know some couples where its the man. I assume Doug is truly happy with it and feels secure or something. Maybe he does have a fixation with being a good boy or whatever but more power to him, he seems like a nice person.
I just think its a bit too, ahh, whats the word, smarmy (?) to watch but sometimes I do go to the site and sort of giggle at the pictures. I'm a little bit interested to see if she can parlay the brief attention into a successful company, or maybe its talk show host she's going for. Not a bad idea but I think she started too late, the show will have to catch on and be a hit or their curtain will finish closing. Never know though, a little attention->jokes on leno->low-end talk show->oprah-time!
Anyway I think they went into it to get attention and its calculated. I also think people who really hate Howard Stern should read his book, its a good read and you'll have more facts on your side and stuff. I mean I don't get Jackie either, but if she wrote a book about her life and why she's that way it'd be a fascinating read too. (Don't try it if you're really puritan of course, there are naughty bits) Actually that's a fun comparison because I have to admit I'm totally repulsed by Jackie's attitude in pretty much exactly the same "I would never want to know someone like that" way that some people think about Stern. It doesn't even help that she's pretty hot, unlike Stern.

I think that's largely due to the difference in wives. Howard's wife couldn't get him from heading to the basement after work (literally -- he would lock himself in and watch videos). Mrs. Stern's biggest gripe was growing distance. Jackie is the opposite. She's probably in his face 24/7. He's going to have to get fed up w/ her act, and you're right if what you're saying is essentially "if Doug hasn't done that yet, he never will".
Howard Stern the single best interviewer in the history of radio? no. he talks crap. it's funny. but it's crap.
fun to read about the christies tho. and it temporarily took my mind off NME.
