Mercury News - The New York Post and TNT reported that the Sixers came very close to dealing Allen Iverson to the Denver Nuggets in exchange for players including Nene Hilario, Earl Watson and Voshon Lenard. The reports said Sixers chairman Ed Snider signed off on the deal but was overruled by the board of directors of Comcast Spectacor, the team's parent company.

King said the Sixers were never close to dealing Iverson to Denver. He called the report of a directors vote "absolutely false. There was no board vote on a situation like that."
King said he had "a great conversation" with Iverson last week.

"We talked about a lot of things," he said, "and as he's stated to you guys, he wants to retire a Sixer, and he's content with that. He told me, `If you make a move, great. If not, I believe in my teammates.'"

Miller/Iverson/Carmelo/K-Mart/Camby - that would of been one fun line-up.

hahahha damn thats hilarious. AI would NEVER be traded for those 3 scrubs. i'll put my house on the line. sixers better demand more than a 3rd string PG, a PF that is recovering from knee surgery and a few mill in salary cap relief.

I'm not surprised King didn't go for it but the fact that it was even considered is interesting. I wouldn't be shocked if something was done over the summer. Sixers really need to do something to birng the fans back. Their attendance is very low and that was probably the biggest factor for a trade consideration.

Watson's not a third string PG. He proved that in his time with Memphis (also played 4th qtrs when Fratello came in and benched J-Will for them) and Denver (because of his play). Guy could start on most teams, strengthing that a lot with his improved jump-shot now. He was the third PG in Denver because Andre Miller and Earl Boykins were already there and also good.
