I've come up with the perfect name for The Kings once they move to Anahiem

The Anaheim Fails
The Anaheim 5th Team *(which can change to 8th once LA gets a couple NFL teams)
The Anaheim Stupid fu**ing owners
The Anaheim soon to be brokes
The Anaheim Sacramento rejects
The Anaheim middle fingers

Let's make this thread fun lol.

I don't give a hoot what Kings are called next season, how they'll do down there as I'll now probably become a psuedo-Warriors fan, if a fan at all. I'll be looking forward to the NCAA season even more each year and March Madness of course.

Some are happy to dump on Jim Crandall - ridiculous and meaningless. He only mentioned a last ditch plan that "maybe" had a sliver of hope. It didn't - so what's new in this never-changing Sac saga of more debacle than glory. Others want to heap all their scorn on the Maloofs - again if they leave it will be meaningless and largely undeserved rath. I bet they could care less because most of their beef is with bunch of worthless politicians they've had to rangle with to no end. That pathetic crew down at City Hall is the real culprit IMO as it has been for at a decade and more. The esteemed City Council who could have if they really wanted to made something, anything happen - but hardly lifted a finger of support of securing a new arena. Sacramento maybe does not deserve this big fat humiliating slap in its collective face, but it damn well should now realize that its local BYZANTINE politics/politicians are THE MAJOR PROBLEM and until that's fixed most will see Sactown as just some stinking cow dung pasture like it's always been.

I still prefer the Anaheim Mickey Mouses

That comes from a guy from a city with the second lowest attendance in the league :O

That comes from the owners with the lowest payroll in the league. Give us something to watch and we have proven we will sell out. We have 2 of the top 5 sellout streaks EVER in the NBA.. So don't give me that bullsh*t.

If the owners spent money they would be sold out arenas. Alas, the owners are cheapskates and they aren't going to do any better in Anaheim so they can suck my nuts. I hope they go broke.

So you are saying the only reason to go to the games and sell out is if they are a winning team?

Did I say that in my post? Forgive my reading comprehention but I have no idea what I wrote earlier.

When there is a deliberate attempt to put an exciting team on the floor I go to the games, I buy season tickets, I buy merchandise. When there is a cost cutting thing going on like the last couple years in order to help the Maloofs save money so they won't get hit as hard financially when they move the team I don't think I would like to watch what they have to put out. At least not in person. This is coming from someone who has been to about 700 games since the Kings moved here. Both when winning, and losing.

It may not be the only reason but it's sure at the top of the list. No fan base will continue to show the same level of support when a team is bad over an extended period. It's just not how things work. Owners who put D-leaguers on the floor don't deserve to sell out games. You can call people "bandwagon fans" for not showing up to watch a team that wins about 20 games every year and has a payroll so low that it was actually under the required minimum for awhile but I'd just call them people who have better things to do than throw their money away on a bad team that's owners have publicly stated are "looking at all their options". With the looming move and pee poor performance, many fans have just checked out emotionally and who can blame them.

The perfect example for loyal fans are the fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs of the NHL. The team won the last cup in 1967 and haven´t been to the playoffs for many many years. They have the highest ticket prices in the whole league but sell out every single home game. Toronto just loves their Leafs and there are many other examples out there in professional sports.

I'm not very familiar with hockey but would fans in Toronto still show that type of support if they had a league low payroll, a revolving door for coaches, and owners who were talking to other cities about moving the team?

How many games did the Lakers sell out after trading Shaq?

The Kings were selling out games when they were winnng 25 games a year. It wasn't until after winning in the playoffs and the tickets skyrising that people stopped going when they started winning 25 games a year again.

Oh and how are those Raptors doing?

I know you guys are bitter and all but I'm going to have fun watching Tyreke and DMC next year regardless of where they play.

Yah that's cool.. I will still watch the NBA too.. Just not going to go out of my way to watch the Anaheim Royals play because my favorite team was the Sacramento Kings and they will cease to exist once they are gone in both name and location.

If the Clippers moved to Norcal and changed their names to the Sacramento Kings I would have a new favorite team.. Even with that jackass owner they have lol..

I might still watch the players I have watched for the last several years, the guys I have seen grown and who, in a remote way, are family. This is what is unique about a home team. We hear a lot more about them and their personal life, good and bad, than any other fan. That being said, if another team moves in, it would be a little bit like marrying someone with kids, I'd get used to them and they would become mine.

The chances of another team coming are are so unbelievably low that it is not even worth considering. I am a fan of Reke, Cuz, Cisco, Casspi, Greene, Thornton, Beno, Pooh, Jackson, Taylor, Dally, and in a remote way, Whiteside.

Well yah.. I am still a big fan of Cousins and will watch and see how he does. But no more than I would watch Kevin Love, or Kevin Martin.

I will stop being a fan of the Sacramento Kings when they are called the Anaheim Royals though. Call me a bad fan or whatever, but the team name, and location isn't even the same. Why would people expect me to follow a team that isn't even the team I grew up with.

I won't call you a bad fan. But the hate that you spew about the Maloofs is ridiculous.

Keep dreaming!

If, and thats a HUGE if, Sacramento gets another NBA team, they certainly will NOT be called the Kings. That name stays with the current franchise and would have remained this team name if it weren't for the LA Kings.

If down the track this team moves again, (especially if them move to Vegas) they will be known as Kings again.

I don't think the NBA is coming back to Sacramento in the near nor distant future. But as far as the name goes, there is precedent set by the Cleveland Browns/Baltimore Ravens fiasco.

And unlikely to be the case here. The team was known as the Kings well before they came to Sacramento. The city has no rights to the name or the theme. It belonged to a team well before they moved from Kansas to Sacramento.

Anaheim Royals as much more of a ring to it than the Anaheim Kings. Not to mention the LA people calling the Kings "The Queens" so I am pretty sure the **** will be looking to "re-brand" the team upon moving to the LA region unless they want the "Queens" name to go with them in the move and even be worse than the 5th ticket in town. Does LA have any minor league teams that play at the same time? I could imagine them pulling in more people than the "Queens" down in the OC.

Mod edit: Please stop trying to circumvent the filters. Thanks.

re: the "Kings" name it could be that part of the inevitable legal settlements is that the Maloofs agree to drop the rights to the name. There is plenty of precedent for this from the Whalers to the Browns to the Sonics where the city hung onto the names as condition for settlement.
