like many of you, i don't live in sacto county. i work in sac county, i spend lots of $$$ in sac county, i attend a ton of events at arco... but i can't vote (hey, i have something in common with the maloof's!!)
i'm making a point to talk to EVERYONE i know that lives in sac county. hopefully many of you will do so as well.
one point i've been consistent in making (espeically to those with kids)... this is way more than an arena. no kings = no summer basket ball camps, no community work done by pro athletes that kids love to be around, no vlade-peja bowl, etc etc.
what i believe the bee & other news outlets have been remiss in is reminding this community just how much the maloof's and the kings/monarchs do for this community.
where does all this hatred and venom come from the city against the maloof's? they have been considered the number one ownership group in pro sports over the last 7 years. the effort they have put into being partners and active participants in this community speaks volumes.
without being naive, i really believe the passing of this initiative is going to rely heavily on grass roots support. people like us who support a vision of development in sacramento, who consider themselves sacramentans (i've been here 30+ years) - but live in areas that can not vote this november.
