Kyrie Irving @KyrieIrving 10m
@SBNationNBA @bballSource you make the same case when he has every defense designed to stop him every night
Well, that's one obvious issue with statements like this video are attempting to make and one we went over repeatedly with Reke and comparing a few other players to him. The stats don't take into account game plans against or defensive focus on an individual. Reke was regularly heavily game planned for, often with multiple defenders shading him and attempting to cut off options. Support players take advantage of those situations. Well, the good ones do. Kyrie faces the same thing, constant focus of opposing defenses and being heavily game planned for.now this:
I find interesting (it's Irving's response to the SB nation tweet regarding the video).

Isaiah Thomas in a few months when Kyrie drops 40: "I NEVER ASKED FOR THIS"
Isaiah Thomas @Isaiah_Thomas2 23m
@HPbasketball u better try again! That's not happening on me I don't care who it is... KNOW that
This just goes to show what happens when you rely on stats too much. It's pretty much that simple. I will gladly take Kyrie over IT 100/100 times.
It's not happening because he'll be on the bench while Irving scores 40 on Vasquez.god bless twitter!Isaiah Thomas @Isaiah_Thomas2 23m

It's not about relying on stats too much (even the stats in the video show Irving is better). It's about poor logic, which can happen when using stats, eyeballs or crystal balls. This just goes to show what happens when you rely on stats too much.

No they really don't.
The title is asking if IT is better than Kyrie and the closing statement is asking you to reflect on who had the better season last year. How can you question the intent of the title? Or the final question? It's a terrible title, and a terrible closing question *if* the intent was, as you say, to illustrate IT's strengths and weaknesses. There is no need to start and finish the video by asking you to directly compare his ability to someone far superior to him.
As usual Jamal, you substitute your own meanings and interpretations instead of reading and/or listening to what is being said.

A guy like IT is not and takes advantage of the attention and focus on others, as do many support players. And that's not a knock, it's the reality. It's a bit different when the opponent's top defensive player is charged with locking you up night after night and the help defense is geared towards cutting off your options in comparison to attacking off the attention others receive.
What's USG?
And even more stats will be analyzed.....thought that is what everyone wanted. Or do we want Petrie back?

As others have said in so many words, you can't rely on stats alone. What the stats do is help people who are responsible for making decisions break through some of their biases. The media, ESPN, blogs, opinion columns all tell us that Kyrie is a star and IT is a backup at best. But when you lay the numbers out there, it forces you to take a closer look to make sure your eyeball test wasn't lying to you. Kyrie is better than IT, but maybe the gap isn't as great as some would like to believe.
Looks like these cameras in Arco will be the new eyeballs fore the eyeball test. NBA 3.0
The NBA announced Thursday that it will install motion-tracking cameras in every arena this season to provide coaches, players and fans reams of data aimed at pulling back the curtain on what it takes to succeed at basketball's highest level.
The NBA has partnered with STATS on the SportVU cameras, and the relationship has grown from a single arena during the 2009 NBA Finals into a league-wide initiative that will be up and ready for the start of this season. The technology can monitor every move a player makes on the court, gauge how tired he is and can even keep an eye on the job referees are doing.
